As much as I enjoy dancing and bouncing around like a derp while listening to
SKRILLEX, my favorite electronic music would have to be the stuff you can't really dance to.
I'm not trying to make this a total recommendation thread, because I have a lot of glitch and IDM that I listen to. But I figured I'd post this and maybe get some people out of their comfort zone?
Veqtor
I've been listening to Veqtor for some time now, and even though his discography is rather small, he's definitely worth a listen if you enjoy glitch/IDM (except Parsuitel Orbitelum, that album isn't too good imo).
Limit Cycle EP, Retrospective, and Zero Data Index are his more concrete albums. Analogik1 and 2 have almost no structure at all and are made using pureply analog synthesizers. Think Merzbow but not as loud and really space-sounding.
My favorite song would have to be Mosaic off Limit Cycle EP.
Xanopticon
Most of what Xanopticon produced is probably way too heavy/loud to be considered IDM... But his liminal space album is one of my favorite albums I've ever heard.
ps liminal space sounds really cool when it's run through stereo difference.
Autechre
Yeah, I'm stating the obvious.
Richard Devine
Sound designer that's designed patches for NI software and done a lot of audio work in general.
I would post more but I'm really tired so I'll mention some names.
