Personally I am pro mutant powers. Also clean energy, equals awesome.
I don't like nuclear power all that much its harmful, because spills are extremely dangerous to everyone around the plant.
:
Wind power and solar power is so much better and it doesnt cost as much, and isnt as harmful.

I think it has some benefits, but it's also disastrous should anything go wrong. Remember Chernobyl?

Like any technology, one has to weigh in the benefits vs the risks. Modern reactors are much safer than they were in the past, so with modern technology I can support nuclear power. It's cleaner than coal. Coal has its dangers as well.

Indeed. If the two citations we use to base our opinion of the safety of nuclear power are the result of poor oversight and shoddy construction we may as well ban driving motor vehicles because of things like the recent Toyota recall or the famous Pinto fires.

While the Americans gave up on developing nuclear power technology the French and the Japanese have kept at it, the latter designing plants that stand on fault lines and can withstand major earthquakes. Like anything else, there's the matter of double- and triple-redundant systems, proper oversight, quality construction, and when it comes down to pollution the only thing a nuclear plant produces is hot water, which cooling ponds can easily reduce.

If you think green energy can meet our energy demands, you'd better think again. Not even if we lived underground and covered the entire surface of the earth in solar cells and wind farms would it be possible.

Did you know that some people say nuclear power is a clean and efficient way to make stuff work? Oh, but some people are worried that it will turn them into mutants with superpowers. But some people want to be mutants with superpowers.

What do you think?

OK, I'm going to go now.

Well, see you later.

well it would be cool to have super powers but idk
i think nuclear power is needed
because to generate more energy biggrin

i know cause im a mutant dead guy
nuclear power? Well, sure it gives a lot of energy, but what about the waste it leaves behind? And the nuclear power station that blew up in Chernobyl 24 years ago left some nasty consequences, don't you think?
Chernobyl, frankly, was reactor made with obsolete technology attempting to preform a modern output. Its system were archaic and unstable; more so when compared to what happened at three mile.

To wit, the three mile island reactor had a partical meltdown but it was contained quickly and before a Chernobyl style destruction was made a possibility.

That infamous reactor is a cautionary tale about nuclear power. We cannot control the atomic genie by only with what works, simply skating by; we must improve constantly in our understanding and command of him.

Those who think green energy will save us need to ask their doctor is Pascal is right for them. We must improve our current grid, which loses power in transition, and adapt modern nuclear reactors.

I'm all for nuclear power. It's clean and efficient. I think we actually need more nuclear reactors.

I think we're getting away from the idea of what's really "natural" or not.
Several, several years before humans had anything to do with it, there were natural nuclear "reactors", that produced huge amounts of energy when we still had plenty of radioactive Uranium in the Earth's crust. link
And if you don't trust wikipedia, I'm sure you'll find its sources to be quite reliable.
In fact, if we're talking so broadly as nuclear reactions in general, the biggest nuclear reactor in the solar system is our sun, where we get almost all of our energy from in one form or another.
The half-life of radioactive byproducts of nuclear fission are very long, but they can be safely stored in solid lead casing. Lead, of course, is poisonous, and nobody will miss it if we put nuclear stuff in it and place it back in the ground where we found it.
Not to mention that using up nuclear materials for energy is a lot better than leaving it laying around to be used in weapons, in my opinion.

I agree.
