Yes, you should stick with it. Season 1-6 are so engrossing that you won't even know when it is finished.
You could watch the older ones later.
There is nothing older than Season 1.

Anyway, OP... Eccleston's a good place to start. Yes, it's Series 1, but the
actual Season 1 means you have to get through nearly 30 seasons of the show (though luckily some are shorter than others). But with the 2005 reboot, you get all the information you need about the Doctor, and only various hints at the old stuff, mostly for long-time fans. You can usually pick it up as it goes along though. I'd only recommend the older stuff if you
really get into it.

But anyway,
should I keep going? Some people have told me that the next season ruined it for them.
Are you kidding me? Most people
I've talked to say that the revival only really hit its stride once Tennant became the Doctor. He's one of the most popular Doctors ever, next to (Tom) Baker. I actually prefer Smith over Tennant, but that's just my opinion.
I say keep going and don't listen to what anybody says. Decide for yourself whether you like it or not. Maybe you'll enjoy it, maybe you won't. It's worth a shot either way. And even if you don't, just know that there's always another Doctor and new writers shuffling into this show, so the tone and quality will always change every few years.
