There's nothing wrong with only just finishing the fifth season. My mom's still at early Donna (Doctor 10) season. Then again she rarely has time to sit down and watch it. But she's excited for Matt's seasons, she thinks he's cool and she likes Rory.

Nothing wrong with being "behind" or a new Whovian.
