You should probably be able to tell what the TARDIS is and what it does, who the Doctor is, know what the sonic screwdriver is, know how long the show has been running, and identify a few companions. Just a basic start.
In the reboot, my favorite episodes so far have been "Let's Kill Hitler", "Demon's Run", and "The Wedding of River Song". One of my favorite old episodes, though, is "The Five Doctors".
For me it's a four way tie. I love the current Matt Smith (he was my first doctor), but Tennant was cool as well. Jon Pertwee has awesome martial art skills, but Tom Baker has awesome hair xD
