Welcome to our first “Out & About in Lancaster” post! Each month leading up to the convention, we will feature some of the nearby Lancaster attractions we think our members and families will enjoy, and share useful information about the area. For our first post, we talk about something near and dear to all of our hearts (and stomachs)…food!
Zenkaikon is excited to announce John de Lancie as a guest at our 2013 convention!
Originally from Philadelphia, Mr. de Lancie is known as Q on the various Star Trek series, Frank Simmons on Stargate SG-1, Discord on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and William Miles in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. He voiced Dark Agent Booty on Invader Zim, Trias in PlaneScape: Torment, Dr. Death in Outlaws, and Professor Quadwrangle in Quantum Conundrum.
We’re happy to announce that panel and workshop submissions are now open for Zenkaikon 2013! The end of the regular period for applying for a panel is January 1, 2013. Anyone wishing to submit a panel for consideration for Zenkaikon 2013 can do so by completing the panel application on the Zenkaikon website. Good luck, everyone! smile
Zenkaikon is happy to welcome Phil Kahn and T Campbell from the webcomic Guilded Age as 2013 guests. This “saga of the working class adventurer” is a regular feature on Joystiq’s Sunday Morning Funnies, and its first printed volume was featured in the Previews catalog. T Campbell has written for numerous comics including Guilded Age, Penny and Aggie, Fans!, Cool Cat Studio, Search Engine Funnies, Rip and Teri, Divalicious! (from Tokyopop) and just a little Avengers. Phil Kahn was recently nominated for Comic Book Writer of the Year in the 2012 Philly Geek Awards. Learn more about both of them on our guest page!
I think it's awesome, but that's kinda subjective as I am staff now. XD But I had started attending it since it first started. We're probably considered a small to medium sized con now expecting 3000+ attendees this year - which happens to be our 7th. Zenkaikon is also in a brand new venue, which I am very excited for. smile

Zenkaikon is happy to announce cosplay “adventure rock” band Eien Strife as a musical guest for Zenkaikon 2013!
Eien Strife brings to life the story of Terina, a dense forest world that is unknowingly facing its extinction. The four characters of the party — Cheydra, Raien, Lyren and Kale will join together and perform an intense high energy concert that is a truly unique experience both musically and visually. The members of Eien Strife have traveled all over North America and parts of Japan, and now are planning to share their story while delivering a performance that the audience at Zenkaikon will never forget!
Online registration for the Zenkaikon 2013 Masquerade is now open! The Masquerade, the highlight of many a con experience, is a staged show where costumed entries appear in front of an audience. Entries take the form of rehearsed skits which may include, but are not limited to: musical numbers, choreographed dances, comedy sketches, acting, instrumental acts, and parodies. The performance should be planned and rehearsed before the event.
The Masquerade will take place on Saturday evening of the convention, and online registration will be open until February 23, 2012.
