Welcome to Gaia! ::

On friday I went to my first convention, dressed with 2 other friends as if we were in the matrix. We weren't any specific members, we just decided to be OC's that weren't that important in their universe.

It was pretty nice, it was the Chibi Pa Sampler, a small convention, but fun nevertheless. Within the first 5 minutes, I nearly got glomped by a 5 foot tall obese pikachu. It really made me question why I even came. But it got better from there on, and there was a 2 hour rave at the end which was honestly the highlight of the evening.

All in all, I'd do it again. How was YOUR first convention?
♫ And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

October 2008, EXPCon in St. Augustine, FL.

I went with my two room mates, and one of them dressed as Hikaru (or maybe it was Kaoru xD) from Ouran High. The other room mate and I didn't dress up, since it was the first con for both of us and we'd all decided pretty much the night before that we were gonna go.

I had a great time, got a ton of awesome pictures, met a lot of cool people, stuff like that. It was a good con to start at, since it was a first year convention, so a lot of it was just people hanging out in the area.

First time that I cosplayed was in March of 2009, for MegaCon. I got a lot of pictures (was Gojyo from a Saiyuki: Reload group) and generally had a great time. ^^ Our costumes even got noticed/complimented by a voice actor!

When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am ♫

Chibicon 2008 Derby United Kingdom.
Probably one of the best experiences ever.
Back then nobody looked perfect and nobody was against on how you looked, everyone and i mean everyone got along. It was a pretty small building but wow. I went with a group of friends, i cosplayed as Sora from KH2, i won first place in the cosplay contest and yet i thought i'd loose because everyone else had good costumes.

To be honest, it was the best convention. And i'm glad it was my first :3
I'm really more of a renaissance geek than anything else, so I'm used to a crowd that isn't screaming at the top of their lungs at every given moment. So this was quite the experience. I felt left out since about 50% of the con was filled with either Hetalia or homestuck fans. smile
It was Otakon. I cosplayed Homestuck. I found a Homestuck group, and bam, instantly friends with all of them. Everyone was so friendly! And from there it just got better. Best weekend ever.

My first con was MTAC 2006. o3o I didn't cosplay because of my lack of time and resources. Had to drive for four hours to get there, and I only got to stay for one of the three days. I still had fun, though! There was a huge array of manga for sale, people in amazing costumes, and loads of good food! biggrin

My first

Conichiwa, Tucson, AZ - 2011

Best weekend of my life. Met a lot of people, some I'm now friends with. My boyfriend took loads of pictures.

The highlight of it for me.... I got a button and had it signed by Sonny Strait. heart Had such an aswesome time. Going again this year. It's in March! I can't wait.
Anime USA 2009 in Virginia.

Best. Weekend. Ever.
I can barely describe how I felt that entire time. It was a friday afternoon and I just got home from classes, and I was seeing people all over the area in cosplay. I had no idea what was going on and I asked my roommate about it. She told me that an anime convention had come to town and the convention was practically down the street from out apartment! Obviously, I was ELATED. Since I didnt have weekend classes, I made plans to go to the con bright and early the next day. I didnt have any cosplay gear, but my roommate was nice enough to lend me her cat ears and cat tail.

I was simply dumbstruck by the people in cosplay, the events hosted, EVERYTHING! The community was so warm and friendly and it was so easy to strike up conversation with anyone, I felt right at home. I knew that I didnt want this to be my last convention, and since then, I made an effort to attend the conventions that came to town, in cosplay. ^^

That's amazing. The closest convention ever to me, (I've checked the past ones) Was a 45 minute drive. The one i recently went to was about an hour's worth of trip, maybe a little more. I sorely wish I had the same community of cosplayers as all of you, it seems that I am in the rotten apple of cosplay land.
Honestly? My first convention was awful. xd It was many years ago at AUSA, I believe, and my father (who took me) was told that SUNDAY was the day to go to these things, as the Dealer's Room would have more discounts on the last day.

I'm not sure if we didn't look up the TIMES of the closings or what, but everything was in the process of being shut down when we got there. xd I was so...SO...sad...but every convention after has just rocked my socks, and that experience has helped me really appreciate the importance of scheduling and how precious all my con experiences have been since then. whee

And I don't think I've ever driven less than an hour to a con...Otakon is about 4 hours from where I live, but it's well worth it for a weekend of awesome. SO happy to live on the East Coast...

i don't count my first con as a con. does that make me horrible? D:
i was in a 'casual' riku cosplay, and the con was tiny, and it sucked.
it sucked even more because it was the first time i got to, and last time i ever wanted to, meet vic herpaderp.

Otakon 2001 was my first convention. We (an old college friend and I) were taking Amtrak from High Point, NC to Baltimore, MD for our first convention together. It was my first con, and I absolutely loved it. I didn't dress up, but I went to a fan fiction panel and met fellow fan fiction writers and learned some basic fan fiction history as well as ideas on how to improve.

Bought my first Yukata in the Dealer's Room, and watched some idiot pirate get kicked out of the con because he was trying to start a war with the ninjas.

I'm slowly getting out of the anime scene - I focus more on traditional Japanese culture than anime. But my first time at a convention will always be enjoyable.

first convention RealmsCon 2007 and I cosplayed Ritsuka on Saturday. I hung out with my cousin and her friends since I was staying with her that weekend to go to the convention. the staff was always WTF about us because we were first in line in most events xD opening ceremonies, concerts, dealers room. I fell in love with cons after that I was having fun and meeting new people ^_^
Akicon. November 2008.

I went by myself and only for about 6 hours. I had no idea what the hell was going on and just wandered the two floors. It was at a hotel in Everett. I was just "WHOA. THIS IS A CON?!"

I still feel the same way at each con I go to. Which is only this one and Sakuracon. So far....

That's probably the only picture I took at the convention. All other pictures of me were taken by other people, some didn't even ask me ;o; It was like pictural rape.
