Welcome to Gaia! ::

I asked this on the anime Boston forums, but noticed that it seems a bit dead compared to other years, so I bring my question to Gaia ^_^

Okay, so I plan on making a costume based on Okami. It's not a fur suit, just a dress inspired by and ears/tail.

My biggest question is that I want to take it a step further and go on a steam punk styled theme, with Asian touches. It will change the pallet, like instead of the red, green and white colours I think of. It would be more bronzed and cream, tarnished versions of the colours. The disc on the back will be gold/bronze with gears instead of the green disc with the usual patternsetc...

Will it be too different that people wont know what I am if I do this, and should I just keep it non-steam punk. I'm afraid that most people wont know what I am to begin with, but I figure that even if people never played it that they have seen it enough to know...

I'm a big gal, so I like making costumes that look good on me and I find taking characters that don't have bodies set in stone fun to cosplay. I have a good Mokona costume, but I've worn it 2 years now aside from my steampunk back-up. So I'm super excited about this costume.

There's absolutely no reason to steampunk an okami costume. Noone will recognize it. However, the idea sounds neat as hell. So if you decide to tell them you're something else, everyone will think you've got a nifty-a** costume.

Yeah that's what I was worried about but a lot of cosplayers are doing it because the con's theme is post-apocalyptic...not steampunk but it's something that seems like it will be abundant lol. Thanks for the feedback tho ^__^

If anything, you can burn the frills of the dress. And look like some sort of ookami burn victim.
