。。。hello there, the angel from my nightmare。。。
See, I can't quite understand how people
in America get so worked up or bitter about
commissioned or store-bought cosplay. I
don't think of it as cheating (unless they
obviously try to pass it off as their
craftsmenship.) I am a cosplayer
that strives for accuracy and quality.
When I don't feel my skills are good
enough to pull off exactly what I want,
I am going to go out and find someone
who can.

When it's just to be in cosplay at a convention, it really doesn't matter if you buy your costume or make it. The thing more experienced cosplayers don't like about store-bought costumes are how inaccurate they are, because most cosplay stores kinda "cut around edges" to get the commissions in on time. An underlying reason might be because they made their own costume and put more effort into it, but get less of a reaction from a crowd than a person who bought their costume. ;D But that's probably not everyone, and even if that opinion is widespread, it's in a very hush-hush way. No one's gonna say that outright unless they're particularly obnoxious, whiney, or want to stir up drama.
Overall, though, people are generally pretty forgiving about commissioning a cosplay. I'm sure many cosplayers have had to outsource a costume to someone else for whatever, reason.
