Hello, there! I'm participating in two group cosplays with friends as Miku Hatsune from "Magnet" and Ember Mclain from the cartoon Danny Phantom and I was hoping to use the same wig.

I have a long light/aqua blue wig (100cm) that falls just below my waist. Is there a way to style it into high pigtails and/or a high ponytail without cutting it and making extensions? The biggest problem I have with attempting to put it up is that the hair is too heavy to stay up.

Any help will be much appreciated!

It is very hard to get long wigs into high pony tails. what you should have done was buy a wig with clip in pony tails. However, it is possible.

Things you will need:
Wig Head
A pin to keep the wig in place on the head
A wig head stand/a friend to hold down the head
2 pony tails
LOTS of got2be hairspray and got2be spiking glue.
a teasing comb
and finally scissors.

What you have to do is separate the wig down the middle, so you can make your pony tails.

ONLY WORK ON ONE SIDE AT A TIME.

Figure out where you want your ponytail to be placed, and start pulling the hair into a pony tail.

use your hand to hold the hair, and with the other, smooth out any pieces on the bottom.

then, get the spiking glue, and COVER the bottom. (meaning were the roots are) Make sure you do not use to much, you dont wanna soak your wig.

Let that harden (yes you have to leave your hand there for some time.).

Next, replace your hand with your pony tail holder.

then, spray the pony tail holder and roots of the wig, and let harden.

Then do the same to the other side.

Thats what I did with my Yoko Littner wig and it worked very well smile
I bought a wig for my cosplay but i want to have it in a ponytail in the back but still have short hair in the front plus i want some it to stick up.

I have hair spray / comb

This is what it looks like it goes somewhat long / if look closely on the other side that the kind of style i'd like to have for my hair -

That wig is of very poor quality.... I suggest getting a new one. If you would like help finding a new one, I would be happy to help you.
Oh, i didn't realize that fact its just for a Halloween cosplay- kinda my own character so i throught there might be a way to fix up a little but oh well, thanks for offering through biggrin

I do have a question through, i have short hair but i have bangs and when i put the wig on the darn bangs don;t want to go in, i have to fuss with them to get in the netting but when i do, my wig almost falls off- do you have any advice on that much?

♫ You're so cold
Keep your hand in mine

Slick your bangs back and gel/spray them onto your head, also possibly clip them in place. Also, invest in a wig cap (they're fairly cheap, under 10USD normally) if you don't have one already - works wonders!

As for the wig itself, something to keep in mind: cheap halloween store wigs aren't made to be styled, unlike more expensive costuming wigs. A halloween store wig will work fine if your character doesn't need much/any styling, but if you want to do anything complex with it, it's worth investing into a more expensive, high-quality wig.

I suggest looking on wig sites (Amphigory might be a good one to start with) for something similar to your own. They're pretty good at mentioning how much a wig can/should be styled, and they've got a wide range of prices.

thanks for the help, Recentaly (due to messing with different ways of my hair figured out that if i get my hair wet and but a pony tail in it, the wig goes on much easyier and i put a ponytail on the wig just for a laugh and it actually turned out fine
