I guess I'll post a photo from my most recent con. I was Satella from Chrono Crusade (at the insistence of my friends), and at first I was super nervous about cosplaying as her because I was really worried I wouldn't fit her body shape and in the past I've mostly cosplayed as males before because of self esteem issues. I'm glad they got me to do it though; I'm wearing a corset under the outfit and hardly any of my cosplaying friends recognised me (apparently I was the 'cute Satella wandering around'). ^.^

Guess it's worth mentioning that I wear 12-14 tops (some size 12 tops I can't wear solely owing to bust haha) and 14-16 pants.



(Because my friends believed in me and got me wearing something a lot more revealing than I'm used to, my cosplay plans have completely changed from males to females, and although they're still mostly modest females I'm now choosing for my body type as opposed to choosing covered up male characters due to body image issues).

mm i thing that unfair is that fact that in anime is more skinny characters -.-
and u have right that no anyone can be skinny -.-!
and everyone can be a great cosplayers!

I would just love to say that I am so proud of you! It feels better to actually feel like you can have more options in the cosplay community doesn't it? That was a beautiful cosplay by the way! You looked fantastic!

And I keep forgetting to post my last con pic. I was already pre registered but when it came time for the con, I didn't really have any money for a cosplay, so I went to 2nd hand stores and my closet and put together a Steampunk outfit that I was pretty proud of! I promise those who still check this place out that I will post it sometime in the future. Currently I'm moving, so times be busy. =]

Oh that's awesome. I've never actually read Vampire Knight. And I'm definitely not a seamstress so I'm trying to find something that won't be hard to make. I found a girl from Saiyuki that wears a somewhat simple dress and she's tan like me. So I might dress up as her. And her dress is modest. I'm happy with modest haha.

I'm not a very accomplished seamstress either. In fact, I may just buy a blazer and mod it. I dunno yet. Haven't gotten to that train of thought.

Yeah I've never used a sewing machine ever XD But we'll see how it works. My biggest problem isn't my weight. My problem is my tanness. Very few anime characters are as tan as I am sad

Wow, and here I thought I was ashamed to be a size 20 USA. gonk

This is me in my Yukata at size 28 USA. It needed a bit more work, but the Yukata is still beautiful.

I also have two obis. This obi will be for my outfit that I will wear to Anime USA this Nov. I've dropped from a size 28 USA to a size 18 / size 20 USA.

I bought everything, as I cannot sew. It's a more conservative - and traditional - outfit.

That yukata is so pretty! I have been wanting both a kimono and a traditional Chinese dress for a long time. But the Chinese dresses aren't really made for people with curves XD

I love being tan, but it makes it hard to find people to cosplay as. But this one girl that I found from Saiyuki named Kougyoku will probably work since she's so tan. But, I don't know anything about anime conventions. I don't even know how to find them. Any advice?

Blair from Soul Eater can be pulled off by a darker skinned lady.She's sort of white, but i have seen plenty of tanned girls pull her off.

Looks pretty good, though I've never seen the series. I should get some of my cosplay photos up here (though I do OCs more often than recognizable characters, but I do cosplay Yami Yugi), but it's gonna be a while.

Blair from Soul Eater can be pulled off by a darker skinned lady.She's sort of white, but i have seen plenty of tanned girls pull her off.

As you can see it is a dress with detached sleeves.And the thing is, you can make the length of the dress any length so it can be a comfortable length without showing too much skin, people will recognize you anyways.

Oh that's awesome. I'm glad you're more familiar with this thing than I am haha. I don't know much about a lot of anime. I've actually only seen a few anime. I need to get out more I suppose. Going back to Blair, I actually like her dress, so I'm really leaning that way. Thanks so much for the idea!

You are welcome. I am a bit undecided as to who i want now. I just started learning to sew by a pattern, so I am really iffy, because I want to hand make everything. I was thinking of pimping myself out for commissions also. We'll see how it goes.

Some people have really just killed cosplay and the fun of it. I hate when people think that heavy cosplayers can't dress as anyone, because they don't look like the characters. Which is crap.
