I've been mistaken for the opposite gender an embarrassing number of times, but the most recent in-cosplay one was quite cake-taking.

I was in this getup:
while playing in the games room at JaCon this year. "A Companion Cube playing SEGA?!", and the fanboys with phonecameras gathered.

One of them asked me something,and he couldn't hear me through the helmet, so I took it off to answer. Before I said anything he shouts, surprised,
"DUDE I TOTALLY THOUGHT THAT WAS A CHICK, LOOK AT THOSE MAN-BOOBS!"

everything went silent for a few seconds, I put my helmet back on and continued playing, and I hear from behind me his friend inform him "Dude, uh, I think that is a chick."

Ahh, I just thought of another hilarious one...though for some reason all the really funny ones happen to my best friend and not me.

So when I first got to Katsucon on Friday I ran into a girl with a really cool outfit...it wasn't really a costume, just her dressed all crazy. But someone asked her who she was cosplaying, and she goes "Oh, well tomorrow I'm going to be a RED Scout from TF2." I got really excited and was like, "So is my best friend!" So we made a pact to find each other for Scout lolz.

Well, on Saturday we'd seen a handful of TF2 cosplayers but none of them were this girl...until we were going up this escalator. She happened to be going down the adjacent escalator at the same time. At some point somebody screamed, I have no idea why...but then we started screaming at her, and she started screaming at us, and it just went back and forth "Ahh!" "Ahh!" "Ahh!" "AHH!" as the escalators slowly carried us past each other...and then away from one another. It was the weirdest thing. xd

When we reached the top we turned around and went back down to take pictures with her.

I always create my own costume to cosplay in for Halloween. One year I was L and I had the baggy pants on. I was being at tour guide at my family's haunted house at the time And when I took a step about half way through the house, my foot pulled on the end of the pants leg, which pulled my pants down. Right in front of little kids.....

- There was a Light cosplayer which had "Michael Jackson" written in his Death Note. It was hilarious.

especially with how the death note kills with heart attacks

My friend and i went to a carnival on halloween and she dressed up as L from death note. A little kid came up to her and asked, "Are you one of the Jonas brothers?"

Well, at the last Ikkicon my friends and I had some...interesting experiences.... xp
But I'll only share a few of them. ^_^

So, we were tired and hanging out in this little area of dead-space in front of the escalators.
We all had our signs for hugs, but nobody seemed to notice us.
So, me, being the genius I am, got out my ipod and speakers. We sung and danced to Don't Stop Believing, and it has to be one of my favorite con experiences. Ever. And we got lots of hugs. ninja

Then, my friend had just bought contacts, but she didn't know how to put them in, so we were stuck in the bathroom for an hour and a half. xp
But while we were in there, some chicks decided to help us because we were younger, which resulted in their gay friend randomly walking into the chick's bathroom several times, making all of the other girls squeal whenever he did.
It was funny because he kept talking about the hot guys outside. mrgreen

Oh, and then I got into a war with a random Near cosplayer.
Whenever we saw eachother we'd yell crap at eachother, eg, "You suck!" "Your mom sucks!" "Your mom swallows!"
And it went on.
It was funny.

at ndk there was zombies walking around. one came moaning up to me, i glomped the zombie saying, "awwwww your soo cute. i love yous!!! >w<" the zombie started laughing. see zombies can laugh too. xd

At the May London Expo this year, my partnery-person cosplayed Sweden from Hetalia. I was their Finland, and since we're a couple and they're kind of a couple we were posing for fanservice shots. At one point we climbed ontop of a statue, only for me to realise in the middle of kissing for a photo how high up it was. I started to panic and had to be lifted down by the person cosplaying Sealand and my Sweden. Infront of the whole Hetalia group.

at aad, (Atl anime day) me and my friend were being stupid, I walked up to an L and asked him if he wanted to eat my friends candy, he looks at my friend and says well if its in his pants then that is the best candy its longlasting.
