Yet another thread by me.
Since I keep posting threads, I'm just going to post all the help I need here xp
I'm cosplaying as Edward Elric when I go to my next con, so I'm attempting to make the cosplay.
So! I ask you, O Talented Ones, to help and provide ideas/suggestions to aid me in my mission.

I have the pants I'm going to wear.

I need...
The belt
The shirt? (Can I just use a regular cotton top?)
The wig
The boots
The little black jacket that's lined with white
The red jacket

Suggestions?

P.S. - If anyone has a way to make a cheap and easy automail arm/hand, I'd be overjoyed to hear you out 3nodding

There are a lot of premade Edward costumes out there. One way to start is to look them up and see how they've executed the costume so you can see what you like and don't like.

For the automail, the cheapest way I could think of doing it is either sewing a form-fitting tube that covers from your shoulder to your wrist or hand (if it goes to your wrist, you'd need to find some gloves to cover your hands), or cutting the sleeve off of a long-sleeved tight t-shirt. Buy some sheets of gray craft foam from your local craft store and cut out the appropriate shapes for a layered effect, then attach them to the sleeve. Do the same thing for the glove, then spray paint the whole thing silver. The silver paint might flake off a bit, but overall it would be flexible and somewhat easy to wear.

If you make the jacket please remember to make the kick flap. So many of the pre-made coats don't have that and it bugs me to no end. Then again I'm a bit OC on little details.

Well ..for the automail, in YouTube are some videos about how to do it. And I think that the finish of it are pretty cool.

For the shirt ..a normal one should just do.

Tha jacket ..well, that could be a lil bit difficul if you are not in the matters. But u could search for what u like in anime stores and try to do it.

The red coat should be the easy part. But that depends in the material u want to use.

If you plan on making the belt yourself;
There's a small issue you can see when looking at the picture. Namely, the underbelt seems like one continuous loop, which would make it impossible to get out of the belt decently.

In the back, there's a square the size of the 'underbelt' that's buttoned on, with the regular belt running underneath it. If you make it so it can be buttoned open, you can easily slide it on and off. ^^
