this happens when i go to the start menu, after my pc is on for about 10 or so minutes.

i'll get an illegal operation (or two!) in explorer.

i know about basic maintenence and stuff but this is way too crazy for me to handle.

Run MemTest86 (I think that's what it's called) and make sure your RAM is still good.

Also, restart in MS-DOS mode (press F8 before the loading screen to get the boot menu). Run Scandisk and scanreg /check (if it finds problems, run scanreg /fix) also try defrag if you can.


You could also try to find your CAB files (might be in C:\setup or C:\Win9 cool and reinstall Windows if you lack your install CD. If you don't lack the CD, have at it. You can use scanreg /backup to create a backup of your registry, then put that on a floppy disk, then after you've got it reinstalled, run scanreg /restore.
Mine used to do that, and I ended up getting to the point where I just send it in to get fixed. neutral
