When people say XP is dead, they mainly refer to the fact that microsoft has dropped it, it has reached it's end of life.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/default.mspx

It will never get a new service pack or feature.
Microsoft has stopped developing for it.

The only things XP gets now are updates that work across multiple OSes, like IE updates and .NET runtime updates and security fixes for those.
My brother works for Microsoft but... And he told me about the Window 7. He said it was the Entelegence of an XP and the friendliness of a Vista. Honestly, he also told me it has ALOT of problems... I dont think Windows 7 could be proper, but then again... everybody has their own opinion like.. My bro loved vista and I loved xp...

well it is better that vista in speed

It actually depends on the ram and the bit, such as a 31 bit, 64 bit, or an 86 bit.

Nice necro.....

You're trying to reference 32-bit and 64-bit but there's no appreciable speed difference between them; not it terms of regular use. And a 32-bit application should perform identically when installed on either version.

And there is no such thing as 86-bit. There is x86 however, which refers to a group of 32-bit instruction set architectures.

Vista is far from friendly. It's confusing, frustrating, nauseating, unnecessary. It's almost as if they tried to simplify XP even more than it already was, but forgot about many important features and only simplified the stuff that hardly matters, so it ended up being just downright confusing.

List plz.

Because Vista is better then XP at UI stuff...
windows XP is memory extensive, it bogs down your processor, windows vista uses a gig of ram just sitting there. windows 7 uses very little ram and processor. i have tried xp tablet edition for my acer travelmate c310. xp was the slowest i have ever used and it bogged down so often, i switched to vista ultimate and it was ok accept it used all but 256 of my gig of ram. so i got windows 7 ultimate and put a 2gig of ddr2 in and i have 1.62 gig free running my browser and with my usb devices plugged in.
my opinion is it depends on what you want to do with your computer if you just want to get online with it and check your email etc maybe write some word documents then the operating system doesn't matter that much if you want. if its anything else bigger than that that your planing to do i would look to see what windows 7 offers other than the basic stuff and go off by that i think you should do some of your own research. But i it is definitely better than vista if you have vista and you don't want to downgrade to xp definitely get 7.
I just recently got Windows 7 and I'm totally fed up with it. I'm ready to just wipe the hard drive and pay someone to load Windows Vista on.

First off, I had to go download drivers to be able to center pictures on my desktop background.
And NOW, I don't know what the heck is going on. Everything I try to open comes up in Notepad. Even Internet Explorer and my Calculator.
I can't even take a screen shot because paint opens up through notepad.
From looking at the Windows 7 help site, I'm not the only one it's happening to.

Personally I've had a load of problems with compatibility. I have gone through two or three printers that claimed to be Vista compatible, and only one of them didn't have any problems.

I had an HP Printer that couldn't install updates (but it worked on XP) and whenever you closed Microsoft Word, it would say there was an error and the program had to be closed even though it was closed manually.

I had a Lexmark printer that gave me no trouble at all. However my dad broke it because he's heavy-handed with electronics.

I have another printer (can't remember what type, might be HP) that likes to randomly reset my USB connections so if I go to sleep with the printer plugged in, I'll have to close three or four dialog boxes saying the USB devices are ready to be used. Sometimes when I close a program, it says the Windows Task Interface has stopped working and needs to be closed. This one is merely a nuisance since most of the problems rarely happen now that I unplug the printer when I'm not using it.
Unless you barely use your computer, I say XP or Windows 7. If you just want a basic machine, go for XP. If you want more looks and power, go for 7. No Vista thouuugh.
I upgraded from Vista to 7, not much of an upgrade, It starts up faster, but that's it.

If your on XP, I strongly suggest Windows 7, but if your on vista, and your computer is somewhat new (year odl), then you can hold off on the upgrade, as it is not necessary.
