Windows 7 worth it?? I'm a computer geek(but athletic) and I need to know if I should get it!
It's a vast change from XP, but not as big of a change from Vista.

If you have XP and you're getting a new computer, hell yes.

If you have vista and you're getting a new computer, it'll be fine.

If you have vista and you're thinking about upgrading to 7, check out what's new in it to see if it appeals to you personally or not.

well it is better that vista in speed but there is not many support for it on application yet so if you have any network adapters or the likes i recomend you to wait

The benchmarks I've seen say they're about the same, though those benchmarks were for an RC and not the final, do you have any benchmarks of the final?
Personally, I dual-boot Windows XP and Kubuntu 9.10. There is nothing Windows 7 can do that I can't with this setup. So to answer your question, I don't think so.

Most vista users are using a preinstall.

Up until very recently (when 7 was released) every single 7 install was a plain install 9since no prebuilds with 7 existed at the time), so it didn't suffer from bloatware.

WIndows Vista is not slow like everybody says it is.
It's usually crap preinstalled software included along with it.

but most people do not unistall those softwares (they only add more Xd)
I triple boot Windows XP, Windows 7, and Ubuntu 9.04. Windows 7 is really fast, and it is better than vista. It runs at about 512MB of 2048MB of memory I have. mrgreen

I will agree that 7 is alot faster than Vista. Vista isn't anywhere as efficient and much more of a memory hog.
It is amazingly better than Vista. It's faster, takes less RAM, has less errors, supports all of my drivers, etc. Also, I love the new taskbar. 3nodding
Vista and 7 are different in only boot times and the way they handle ram, on the surface.
All the actual benchmarks I've seen show the three most recent versions of windows run programs at almost the same speed.
