None of the above, bit torrent is now the supreme being in the tech universe. If I remember right, a slashdot article listed bittorrent as using 1/3rd the worlds total bandwidth...like holy cow o.0

Edit-- found the article: http://in.tech.yahoo.com/041103/137/2ho4i.html

Damn. Just...damn. It makes me wonder how much sites like Suprnova and Demonoid pay for bandwidth... (for site visitors, I know BitTorrent doesn't rely on a central server)

...or how they stay up, given some of their content (the torrents are just links, I know, but...). I'd never rat out anyone, considering A, it's against common courtesy, and B, they probably get "reported" several times a day. Go figure.

Soulseek is the greatest!
I think Limewire is the best program out there....no spyware or anything. And I just discovered another good one the other day, it's called eDonkey. LMAO domokun
Bittorrent is the best in my opinion -- though it functions vastly different from the other ones out there.

Well, if you think about a huge big deal file, like an episode of full metal alchemist...which would have about 1500 seeds and 4000 peers, each one of them downloaded a 10kb torrent. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's about 6.8 mb worth of bandwidth. That is a LOT for a file that small, however minimal for a normal server. The bandwidth issues aren't on those servers tho, you're correct, the deal is, it relies on each peers connection, and their connections to others. So if the central server could go 80kbs per user, while using MANY sources you can go 140 kbs dl...then your isp takes the brunt of it instead of the server like normal. Which is the main cause of verizon and others throttling the default bt ports. Basically it's like 'internet karma' taking stress off the central server, puts it on outlaying connections and multiplies it at that...
