What is a good Mbps speed for my internet?

You're lucky. Where I live, the internet never goes beyond 1 Mbps. Download rate? Never goes up beyond 100 kbps. It goes to 10 kbps on regular basis, though.

And I haven't mentioned that it's expensive, plus they call this piece of crap 'broadband'. LOL

My upload is only 0.87....>.>
I'm guessing that's cause I'm right at the edge of our signal, so im getting crappy connection. Download is 3.26 ping is 38.

Comcast has a 250gb cap on my internet (16Mbs/2MBs). I don't know about my brother, but I probably use ~100gb a month from that cap from games and downloads (this month is probably closer to 200gb due to that damn Steam sale...).

Uhm, but I feel like mine should be faster. I mean I'm only a room away from the main computer. (I use wireless)
My sister uses Steam and she says she has issues.. is there anyway we could make it higher? The internet we have is Verizon Fios and I thought it was supposed to be really well.

On otherwise fast networks, wireless can be a pretty big bottleneck. The more wireless devices the worse your performance will become.

In case you are unaware, websites and ISP's show your speed as Megabits per second.
Not Megabytes.

So, if you're internet is rated at something like, I dunno.. 20 Mbps Down and 5 Mbps Up, you're actually getting about 2.5 Megabytes per second down (or 2500 kB/s) and 0.625 Megabytes up (or 625 kB/s).

Though, ISP's hate when people upload. So chances are they're throttling your upload speeds a little, if not both upload and download speeds. Though up here in Canada, DSL and Fiber lines are typically unthrottled, unlike Cable.

That's not bad. mine tested at 5mb/s for download but the upload was around 0.50mb/s but that's not a problum for playing online games

While downloading Linux and Vixta I was downloading them around 1.2 to 1.5MB/s and ues I said Vixta and no I didn't meen to say Vista
