Don't know a whole lot about Vista, but im pretty sure you're better off with Win7.

As for mac, you are paying for the brad, you can get the same hardware for half the price with windows.
but it really depends on what you plan to do with it, Mac can't play majority of all the games, so if you are a gamer you shouldnt buy a mac either.

Perhaps if you are some very artistic person and need all the apps and things that come with a Mac, otherwise there are plenty of good programs you can get on windows.
This is kind of the hard part with choosing. I'd love to get Windows 7 for a whole lot less, but I'm very artistic, and I want to use a computer that I can use art programs on, which is why I'm going towards the Mac. But I'm also a gamer, and if Mac can't provide most games for me, I'll highly consider a Windows 7, even though it wouldn't have art programs for me on there, unless I pay more for it.

As noted, there is no "art" program included with Apple products. It does not offer better support for artistic/content creation programs, and there are no hardware advantages. Apple does include the video editor iMovie, and a music program known as GarageBand, but as far as content creation goes that's it.

Arguably, there is a far wider selection of applications available for Windows than for Mac. If you have NO clue what applications you intend on using then it really doesn't matter what platform you get as you will be able to find something you will be happy with. Gaming is going to be a far simpler and easier proposition with a PC however. That's just how it is.

You really shouldn't bother contemplating Mac anything at this point. Find a laptop with a decent graphics card. Specifically, find something with a good Nvidia graphics card that supports their Optimus technology which will improve battery life when not gaming.

And have fun.

O'er the Mortal Plane, Hugin and Munin do fly each day.

To Champion what this fellow said, Adobe CS5 has all the artsy fartsy editing programs you want and It runs very smoothly on windows... and well... windows will be much cheaper... and I don't even know why mac is so expensive except that trendy hipster kids are caught up in this iCraze and will fork out the extra cash.

For Hugin I fear lest he not come home, Yet for Munin greater is my concern.

What do you mean by that? Macs do not magically come with art programs and do not turn you into an artist. What programs are you planning on using to create your art with?
Oops, sorry. I must have read it wrong. For a second, I thought that was what was said, but I guess I'm mistaken.
Mac will have the least problems but Windows 7 is the most compatable. No one ever needs vista
