I have changed the password three times and the username is the same always but no cigar. Someone please help. This is annoying. I really want to use this OS. It's the one hundredth time its done this to me.

I used the recovery console to change password. Can I make a new username or account?

Go into terminal and type:
sudo adduser newuser
sudo passwd newuser

Insert the account name where newuser is.

You could always just set it to auto-sign-in your username. (That way when you turn the computer on you don't have to know your password.) The ability is in System > Admin > Login Window

I suggest changing your password to something extremely simple so if you want to change or install something that requires your password it isn't a big deal. Unless you have annoying siblings or roommates poking around your computer, you don't need to worry about hacking or anything. There aren't really any Ubuntu viruses out there.
