tablet wont work on new laptop, help please

alright, here goes: hi, i just got a brand new HP pavillion dv7 pc in order to have my own computer for work, school, and digital art. problem is, my tablet wont work with it. Im not sure what the issue is, i installed the correct driver successfully. it just tells me that there is no tablet found or something like that. Ive used a tablet before, i know to plug it in a usb port, which i did. i cant get the stylus to move my cursor around or anything... Ive saved up money for months to buy this computer so i could draw, someone please help me fix this..

Which OS are you using? Could it be Windows Vista? The handwriting application sometimes has problems with tablets.

like id already said, i have. it installed the driver, the tablet just wont function

have you already tried fixing probs with your USB ports on your lappy?
that would be a nice idea to start with.
just go to device manager and check your USB controllers.
theres a possibility of finding anthying there
