I just scanned my computer and I got a hella long list of files saying infected. Some were from system 32, and I don't know what to do. I've also gotten signs of infection in game guard, a program run in a few popular MMORPG's. I'm using Trend Micro AntiVirus on windows vista. Can anyone tell me if its okay to delete any of these files? I'll post a list of the so called infected files if needed.

I'd be very very careful about deleting files in system32. You could wind up shooting yourself in the foot.

I know. Thats why I'm looking for help. The infected files on System32 are supposedly:

gi.dll
iml32x.dll
netlingo.x32
PluginPing.dll
Proj.dll
Swlnit.exe
wextract.exe

Game guard uses lots of sneaky tricks to protect games so lots of antivirus software will see it as a thread.

Have you tried scanning in safe mode and seeing if the scanner gives you the option of fixing them?

Its not game guard I'm worrying about, its System 32 I am. I can get gameguard back.

Just use your Windows disk to run a system repair and replace them with fresh ones after your anti-virus has done its work.

Crew love.
It's not a joke, it's a way of life.

Slight problem with that idea. My computer didn't come with that disk.

These files seem to be apart of Adobe Flash.

Not exactly sure what proj.dll is for. The best I can get on it was these: Link1. Link2.

wextract.exe is a .cab file extractor.

Well what is it thats okay to delete?

Also I'm guessing it will help to mention all the files are in quarintine.

I wouldn't touch any of them personally. You can try deleteing them, but beware that things might break. (Obviously Flash will, but that can be reinstalled.)

Yes, your cooking is terrible if you haven't figured that out already.

Its 9 PM and KeBugCheckEx has executed. Do you know where your Kernel Debuggers are ?

Well as long as their in quarintine nothing bad will happen right?

I would delete them personally although they are in the system32 directory it's a common tactic that I ALWAYS see for viruses to install themselves there so that you panic and think exactly what morden thinks. That you might be damaging yourself when your infact getting rid of a trojan or whatevers.

Chances are your not but as you said so yourself anti viruses generally create backups and "Quarantine" the file before actually deleting it so if deleting the infected file causes problems you can usually reverse it.

I don't think my back up program works.

Some people say I talk too much.

My response: "Shut the hell up and talk back."

Contradictory riddles that responses, doesn't it?

Well another option is to put the filenames of the "infected" files up here so we can tell you if there crucial or not although you could just google each individual file name yourself.
