Welcome to Gaia! ::

XP (not Vista).

The function is enabl;ed, but, if I click it, the computer takes forever to start the process, but then, it quits the entire function, halfway through -- my compter does not go into Hibernate.

I believe that this issue was caused by a virus that my ignorant little brother had unwittingly installed onto the desktop-- it's gone, now, because I used anti-viral software from a flash drive to clean it up.

My question is: "How do I fix this?"

(Rememebr: I did say that the function was enabled; it just doesn't do it.)
have you tried restarting it, disabling any background programs, like an antivirus program, and then hibernating?

The only thing I HAVEN'T done, is use Task Manager to kill every single process running. That wouldn't help, anyway, since the tasks pop-up every time I log on. Seems legit.
