I have a Freeange GoFlex 640 external I bought a few years back and used as my main external vault for storing stuff. After a while, I noticed there was a short happening with the device. Upon testing numerous USB cords, I have localized the short to be in the actual port of the external drive where the light is.

As most of you probably know, the front piece can disconnect from the hard drive piece. The short apparently might be something gimp in the USB part. I was hoping someone could give me some advice how to fix this situation or if I could replace the USB piece with another like it and the hard drive still work.

Any ideas?
