recording software questions?

Hello there!
please point me in the rite direction if im in the wrong place :]

me and my friend were thinking about making a Lets Play of a minecraft Adventure map, but i dont have the faitest idea on what kind of equiptment or software to buy, and before i go out and spend a bunch of money on something i dont know about, i was wondering if i could get some suggestions on what to get.

I use Fraps. It records minecraft well.

Make sure you have plenty of hard drive space when doing screen recording on a computer.
