Welcome to Gaia! ::

You can get a very good pc for that but a gaming labtop will cost at least 2,000 or so, so keep saving up.
A few suggestions:

In my experience, gateway laptops come pretty much problem-free, but good luck getting support in the rare case you have an issue. This has an Nvidia 9800M card, which makes it a pretty good gamer.

This one is an incredible performer for the price, though it has a smaller screen (might be a pro, depending on your preferences) and the reviews sound like it probably won't be bug-free.

If you're willing to save up a little longer, this one has insane specs (Core i7 mobile, 4GB DDR3, GT240M) for a laptop, as well as a huge screen and a Blue-Ray drive. Its just under $1500, though.

I would buy a Desktop, But...

Each year I have to go to either Switzerland, Spain, or Korea to visit relatives, and I do enjoy bringing my things with me since I stay for a while.

Technically, I travel a lot so a desktop would be utterly useless.

Good computer, over priced though. Don't buy laptops off newegg.

New egg is one of the best places to buy computers online neutral probably the safest too.
Lmao, this^. And gaming laptop is kind of a paradox: once it goes out of date buying newer hardware and installing it either doesn't work or is a pain in the a**.

Graphics, graphics GRAPHICS...That's the MOST important part when buying a gaming computer. Forget quad core and i7's. You don't need that. A core2duo or AMD dual core should do you fine. RAM is also key. Go for somewhere around 3-4GB. Also, you won't get a laptop with an i7 in it for under $2000 unless it's a piece of s**t.

No he doesn't game, however that doesn't affect what I said since my point was that vista does not take a gig of ram itself to run, which is what they claimed.

If he lacks a dedicated graphics card, then he will NOT be able to run new games on high settings, even if he has the best processor you can get in a laptop.

The graphcis card is what created the graphics.

If your running more then one thing at once especially if its a game or steam and a game or a game and msn at the same time 1gb of ram will never cut it it barely cuts msn and word on my pc ¬_¬. I never said ignore the graphics I said its the most important part as people seem to think that graphics are always the most important but whats the point in having amazing graphics if the pc can't handle it?

Also can you please stop with the caps lock is cruise control for cool attitude you have going on even if its in bold it doesn't make it any more true.
Go look at benchmarks for graphics cards.
What do they mainly benchmark?
Games.
How much of a difference is there between the high and low-end cards?
Quite a lot of difference.

Go look up benchmarks for processors.
What do they mainly benchmark?
Not games.
When they do benchmark games, how much of a difference is there?
Much, much much less than there is for the graphics card.

But... you're wrong.

The graphics card is the most important part. The VAST majority of games are limited by your graphics card long before your processor. And even with RAM prices going up, memory is ubiquitous and plentiful and should not be the slightest concern as most notebooks these days include 3GBs of memory.

Your graphics card is THE most important component when it comes to gaming.

And I think he bolded that sentence because you clearly weren't getting it. That's the entire point of bold-ing text; additional emphasis of the point in question.

Tbh if hes asking for a gaming laptop 2gb isn't enough it takes vista 1gb of ram to run as it is so he only will have one spare so 3 is the minimum for most but again most games do need 2 to run well so yeah.
Bullshit. My roommate has a desktop with 1 gig of ram and he can multitask on vista fine. The requirements state one gig because it assumed you want to run some programs ontop of vista since that's the entire point. You can't look at an OS's requirements and thing of them like a game's requirements. They work differently.

Anyway processer is the most important bit go for something that isn't intel inside its terrible dual2core duo is good in cheap gaming laptops and something with about 2ghz
No, he should focus on the graphics card for gaming.
