I plan on playing games such as Mirror's Edge on Max Settings or Modern Warefare,

At the same time, I'm not sure if I should wait til there's a better laptop that can run with the crytek engine 3.

Of current there's many conversions occuring of laptops in particular notice of the i5 & i7 processors,
the windows 7 operating system & more standard hardware along with cheaper prices but there's
not that much of a gap between these occasions. If u can be patient it may be appropriate to
w8 until around the end of November. As for a $1100 lappy that may not be a particularly gd price
& is indeed not enough for alienware, though u can maybe try using Dell's customisations with
other lesser laptops to match in with the price.

I've seen complaints regarding ASUS laptops such as that it easily overheats and the battery life is mediocre.
But then again, I don't have any personal experience with ASUS myself, so I'm not confirming these remarks.
Afterall, playing games on a laptop always causes the system to heat up quite a bit, and intense use of the GPU will drain battery at a much faster rate than simple word processing/internet browsing would.

So, I currently have a laptop that really can't play many of the modern games,
(can't play halo 1 on max settings crying )

now however, I have saved up around $1,100. blaugh

All I need is suggestions, I have done my Searching and came up with this laptop:

ASUS Gaming Laptops G60Vx

but, before I buy this, I want to know:

What kind of gaming laptop would you suggest that's around 1,000 dollars?
Please post the laptop and what the best game it can play.

My friend uses an ASUS laptop that indeed easily overheats & most of the labels have worn off
already along with the keys becoming more crude but not falling off. Whilst I hear from many
other internet rumours of it indeed being faulty, long lasting but just fails to work well.

It's all relative to the exact system and its configuration. Some laptops are designed to handle heat better than others, even if they include discrete graphics. Battery life will almost always be unimpressive on systems with discrete graphics as they are rather power intensive compared to integrated graphics, and it doesn't help when +90% of laptops come with a 6-cell battery regardless of hardware configuration.

Honestly, Asus is not any better or worse than your average Dell, HP, Acer, MSI or anything else with discrete graphics. They all have the same basic problems and (generally) more expensive systems tend to combat those problems better than less expensive systems.
