Right. So I'm going to have to either replace my MB or get an entirely new laptop. Either way, I have to back up my files. But whenever I put a CD-R into the cd drive, (which reads DVD-RW when I look at it under the 'computer' file), the computer freezes, windows stops running and I have to manually shut down the comp, which just screws with my MB even more. So...help?

The disks I'm trying to back-up with are Memorex: CD-R 52x 700mb 80min. Suggestions please?

Suggestion: EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE.

CDs? you know how many of those it would take to back up your computer?

Yeah, but I only really care about my writing files and my pic. files. All of my music is re-downloadable, it's just a matter of finding the time. And the only program I actually care about, Microsoft Word, I actually have the install-CD for. sweatdrop *is a writing geek*

then use a small USB drive, or try to back up under safe mode.
