A few weeks ago, I began having some issues with this laptop, a Lenovo Ideapad S400 Touch with Windows 8 pre-installed, which I bought roughly six months ago. First, was the thing repeatedly bluescreening, with an error message: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. It got irksome as it did that every few minutes or so. I, after trying to find updates to my BIOS (there were none) or drivers (none either), decided to ignore it for a while, and it did stop.
Unfortunately, a new problem came, with my touchscreen totally no longer working. I mean, the display is there, but it no longer receives touch. It might have died as far back as the bluescreen problem--I am not certain, as I actually don't really use the touch feature too often. My guess is that somewhere along the way, the touchscreen went to sleep and never woke back up again.
Things I've already tried, to no avail:
It is also worth noting that I have downloaded the latest Windows Updates, and the System tab under the Control Panel does indicate "Full Windows Touch Support with 10 Touch Points."
Is there a software-side fix to this, or is this really a hardware problem and will I need to have this serviced?
I mean, I actually don't care too much about the touchscreen, but it's nice to have it once in a while, and I don't like using things that are broken without having them repaired if they can be repaired. At the same time I don't feel like parting ways with this computer for a while to fix a feature I hardly even use.

- Updating all pertinent drivers. However, there were no new updates for my drivers--everything was up to date.
Uninstalling all the HDI devices in the device manager, and rebooting. Nope. Still nothing.
Disabling USB Selective Suspend, as well as telling the computer NOT to put my devices to sleep when it does.
Going to the UEFI and resetting everything to factory settings.
