unless it's the fire, no.
Especially not the fire. Get an archos 80 instead.
Care you explain your reasoning?

Yes. The kindle fire is a cheap android tablet but without google market. And it doesn't have good battery life like real eReaders. The archos 80 is an affordable yet powerful android 3.2 tablet that will be updated to 4.0. With google market and maps access. mrgreen

also, has a 4400 mah battery comapred to the 2500 mah of the archos, almost twice as much.

The archos still has better hardware and softare, except the battery then.
It's also at least 50% more expensive than the Kindle Fire, while also being larger and heavier.

The Archos 80 isn't bad, but not necessarily "better" than a Kindle Fire.

The kindle fire isn't widely available in my country, and the shop that has it sells it for more than the archos 80.

For half the price, I would consider it. mrgreen

Depends.

If you're only going to read books and you read a lot of them, then yes the basic Kindle is a great buy.
Reading is a delight on the e-ink screen, doesn't tire out your eyes like an LCD screen will (and trust me, those glossy devilbeasts WILL tire them). Be sure to get a case to keep it nice and safe, too. (If you do go this route, never buy the Amazon cases or those uber expensive >$30 ones. There are $10 cases that do the job just fine).

You can carry a lot of books with you at once, and if there's a certain program you can download to even read manga on it if that's your thing.
you should get the nook color. it is the best!!!

This is just on a side note, but the Kindles that have actual buttons on the front of them are more visually appealing to me than the ones where it only offers the touch-screen buttons. I usually am the type to like going forward with technology, but in this case I much prefer the non-touch screen. 3nodding

Just get one free on Viggle; I wouldn't waste money on one personally.
