Welcome to Gaia! ::

I should be getting my school refund in soon, and I have been considering getting the kindle (smallest one). I was wondering if it is worth the buy. It it is let me know why you think so. If not let me know why not. I want to be sure before I get one.
unless it's the fire, no.

I would hate to have a fake book!

It is not a fake book. It is just a different media for a book.

It isn't really 'buying' a book either. You 'license' it. Although if you use Calibre you can remove the DRM and change them to PDF or postscript format I think.

Actually, DON'T get the Fire. It has SO many problems right now. It'll break on you within a week, if not less.

Yes. The kindle fire is a cheap android tablet but without google market. And it doesn't have good battery life like real eReaders. The archos 80 is an affordable yet powerful android 3.2 tablet that will be updated to 4.0. With google market and maps access. mrgreen

I received a Kindle for my birthday last year, and previously I wasn't too jazzed about ereaders. However, I use mine all the time because I can get tons of free books and everything but big name new releases is significantly cheaper in digital format. I also like that the e-ink screen it doesn't tire out my eyes like a tablet would. I still buy titles I really love as real books, but I use my Kindle much more than I expected to.
I would definitely recommend getting the case with the booklight in it if you like to read before falling asleep.
