Welcome to Gaia! ::

my keyboard is acting up, it's like the whole mapping is screwed up, it's adding numbers on some of them, and others, like the spacebar don't work at all(I ment that it would delete the last word I typed if I press it). I had to copy a space and keep pasting it to make this readable. Here's when I go across the keyboard:

1st row: q w e r t y7 u8 i9 o0 p [ ]
2nd: row: a s d f g h j k l ; '
3rd row: z x c v b n m , . /

model: microsoft natrual egronomic 4000 v1.0

if you need any other info, let me know, but I'm gonna take a while to respond

EDIT: the 1st row is fine when I hold shift, but when I press caps lock it still does it, the spacebar works fine now too.

I've looked on google(and still am) and I'm messing arou8nd with my computer to find a solution, I don't know how long this will take, but I'm not going to stop untill this problem is solved
So, when you press the "y" key you get a "y" followed by a "7"?

yeah, it's annoying
So it's only the top row that's affected?
Try cleaning the keyboard out with canned air.
Maybe blowing out the plug and the port too.

Report back, please. ;3
Your keyboard is either jammed or it short ciruited, I suggest buying a new one, did you spill anything on it?

Yeah, definately if you eat crackers or stuff like that at your computer.
Turn it upside down first and gently shake it, then use the compressed canned air.

Your problem sounds almost similar to the problem people have when they press the numlock key on a notebook keyboard. At least as far as the first row is concerned.

But, you're not using a notebook keyboard, or a keyboard with a numpad mixed in with the letters on the right side of your keyboard, are you?
no, I('m on a desktop

feistel - I"ll try that, but I don't think it's that. If I were to press the enter on a search engine, it would bring up a window about 'my favorite keys', that's why I think someone changed the settings somehow
If that was the case wouldn't the on-screen keyboard utility do this to?

I didn't, and it was fine just an hour ago, I hope my cousins didn't do anything when I got up

I would guess so, but I have no idea how to change it back, I'm not familiar with this program at all
Vista: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access > On Screen Keyboard.
XP: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On Screen Keyboard.

Vista: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access > On Screen Keyboard.
XP: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > On Screen Keyboard.
everything works fine on there, but the keys are still messed up
Tried blowing out the keyboard and the port/plug yet?
