Doesn't look like it at all since I did a Google, Hotdog, Ask, and Bing search and the official MS page for IE 7/8 came up each time.

Also I would recommend IE9 if your system meets the requirements since that's the newest one and thus is the more secure out of the IE family.

well it kept taking me to the updates page not the download link for the .exes files... anyways i'm not looking for conflict thanks for your help.

i can not express enough how much i recommend Firefox over internet explorer. it runs much smoother and protects your computer better.

We have a "no conversion" rule here. I do suggest reading the rule and guidelines sticky in order to avoid being flamed or possibly banned. As much as I hate IE (from a web designer and systems designer POV), the question was about IE and thus it should remain about IE.

Also it won't matter what browser you use if you click on every banner and download everything without checking. You're still going to get infected with a computer nasty.
