Well, I was going through my day like any other, when this pop up came up called. SECURITY TOOL.

I don't know how to take it off, and now My Desktop Icons are missing and my screen is gray in the back.

It happened once on another computer of mine and I ended up just putting it in storage, but this is my dads lap top.

If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

try running mcaffe

I know what would fix this issue.
Download a program called Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. it's perfectly safe, i've used it for the same issue and i have zero problems. smile it's free and it works perfectly. just download it, let it update, and run a full scan. PM me if the issue is fixed after a reboot. smile

I suggest you read the sticky at the top of this forum.

http://ihearcolors.com/C-T/sticky-Virus.png

The sticky is a more complete guide for infection removal and is far better than the half-cocked solutions people are providing that have you just downloading one program or doing one scan, or whatever.

One thing is not enough. The sticky will solve your problem 99.9% of the time.

I hate Security Tool. It's rogue spyware, and it sucks. The sticky didn't remove it, either.

(I have an XP, not sure about any other systems)

1. Boot into safe mode

2. Login as the Administrator

3. Open up My Computer

4. Go to tools> folder options> "show hidden files and folders"

5. C: drive> documents and settings> all users> application data

6. Delete the file with a random 8 digit name

7. Boot normally, delete the shortcut on the desktop and in all programs, as it can restore itself

I gave up on Ramune... But you can still give me gold, right?

Link us to your thread about it, if you really followed the sticky.

I know what you mean, viruses can suck. My father is a contractor and uses computers a lot and since i'm a tech geek, he suggested i used the completely free home edition Avast! antivirus. I like never, never! have had any further virus problems,Worms, etc and every time there is some sort of virus coming on towards your computer or from a newly downloaded file it will sound an alarm almost immediately~! I remember the first time it got me, had speakers on full blast nearly fell out of my damn chair in a panic attack!! XD just remember registering instructions so you get the free updated version and not the trial one. I can send you a link if you wish, just PM me~!

Avast is only one of the tools they may need for complete protection and removal.

The sticky covers this process much better.

Also, do not request that people PM you for further assistance, it's against the rules here. It's how we attempt to protect people from receiving poor or potentially harmful advice in private.

Anything worth saying to assist someone wit ha problem can be said publicly in their thread where they are asking for help. For example, instead of asking them to PM you for a link, you could simply provide the link here.
