Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hey, I remember when vista first came out most games didn't work well on it. I may just be paranoid about the whole thing but i'm just wondering how well does it correspond with game programs.

I play World of Warcraft, RuneScape, and I play the minigames on gaia. I'm not concerned as much to the mini-games on gaia. But i really would like to know if it plays wow or rs. If you don't have windows 7... please don't reply saying im a nerd who plays dumb games or something... >.< Thats NOT the point of this thread.
Runescape should work fine on any operating system that has Java installed on it for their browser.

And for most games coming out will work fine on Windows 7, and if older games don't work on it straight away Windows 7 has the feature of Windows XP Mode.

But, this mode will only come on the Professional and Ultimate versions.

Thanks for this information. Of course i'm not getting Windows 7 until Christmas. So i'm hoping that they will make it more compatible by then (if not already compatible).
If it works on vista, it should work on 7.

Long story short, if a game didn't work on vista, it was the game's fault, not vista's. Microsoft has reported the changes that were happening in vista... well, they reported the big ones to programmers YEARS ago be deprecating the functions that wouldn't be there anymore, and laying the lines for the new security model with how 2K/XP did things. If by the time a Vista came out a game didn't work well, either the game was no longer being updated/supported, or the creators just flat out did it wrong, ignoring the proper guidelines.

Oh I see. thanks. So from what your saying i shouldn't have anything to worry about? smile

Like I explained, the games themselves need to update to be compatible with 7, not the other way around.

The changes between Vista and 7 are not nearly as big as the changes from XP to Vista (really, 7s is built off of Vista and is a lot like Vista), so you should have no worried. Companies were forced to get their act together for Vista, so the groundwork for 7 is already mostly done.

That would be correct.

Companies have to fall in-line for Windows 7 otherwise their game might go un-played mostly on the PC market.

What happens with Windows is the majority used.
ty both very much biggrin
