Well how long is a piece of string?

We would need to know what you want out of an ebook reader. What suits my needs or suits the needs of others may well be inappropriate for you.

Better at what? They both have pros and cons. It really depends on what you want/expect from it.

Well let's start with the basics. Why are you interested in these devices? What do you think they can do for you? What make you think you might want one?

Why do you care what other people think?

If you don't see a need for them, then they're not for you. Simple as that.

For example, I don't read a lot of ebooks, so my Nook rarely sees any use. End of story.

Well the original reason I got a Nook was for testing EPUB and PDF documents generated by my company's software. Then I decided I liked reading ebooks so I bought a Nook Color for myself.

My sister and I like the Kindle Fire. It's spiffy looking and stuff. emotion_c8

My aunt has a regular Kindle with the buttons (not the touch screen). That one also looks spiffy with the buttons...but I sort of like having the color of the Kindle Fire. However, I believe the black & white ones have less glare and/or are more visible outside in the sunlight.

I have no experience with Nook. Off the top of my head, I don't even know what they look like. I think they're made by people from Barnes & Noble...but I'm not 100% sure on that either.
I don't know why you would want either. what ever happened to reading books.
but if your really going to get one. i would suggest reading reveiws check out the problems and find out if it is worth it.
check out prices in different areas and maybe do a pros and cons list of both devices.

Books = Paper = Tree's = Less of an environment for animals. So some person invented an ereader to carry around all your favorite books on one device, saves hassle, saves a lot more money and can be added to any Kindle device. Kindle uses E-ink which is easier on the eyes and has a lot less glare compared to the Nook. While the Nook and Kindle are close to the same specs, I personally favor my kindle more, it's a matter of choice and what appeals to you. I can use my kindle with any wireless device IE: Android phone, ipod, iphone, pc, mac, blackberry, while Nook can't.
((Basically meaning I can read on any device if I want so I don't have to pull my kindle out))

Edit: This is also for OP to read as well.
I as well like the physical thing in my hand of books vs an ereader but sometimes I can't carry every single book I want to read while im travelling and Kindle makes it easier.

ebooks cost money, while if you buy a book you will have it for life. though I admit not carrying 20 books with you is nice. but too much electronics is bad. plus staring at a screen for awhile is still bad for the eyes if you do it all the time. plus books don't need electricty. no cords, no worry about it getting stolen because who steals a book. holding a book is part of an experience.

Kindle uses e-ink, different from a computer screen, VERY different actually, a computer screen is either LCD or LED, I use LED because it's easier on the eyes and LCD uses the little tubes that produce colors and can flicker out and make your monitor go black and making you have to buy a new one. LED lasts a lot longer, uses less energy & is actually worth the money, I bought my LED because my LCD went out. Yes ebooks cost money, but take a 20.00 book for 10.00...which is better the 20.00 or the 10.00? 10.00 obviously. I can buy books for 99c that usually cost 5-6 dollars if they're on sale. Kindle doesn't connect via electricity, it's like charging a cell phone, Kindle lasts for 2 months on a single charge w/o wifi. I've had 2 books stolen actually. People do steal. Holding a book may be an experience just as reading it, but aren't you in the experience when you read it on kindle as well, minus flipping the pages. As I said I do LOVE holding books but do you realize how many copys are produced when books are released and how much paper it costs to produce them? Your points invalid.

E-ink makes it similar to reading an actual book, which does not hurt your eyes. Go google it.

http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdThread=Tx2Z0BZIVWAGCZ2#?_encoding=UTF8&tag=heaprcom05-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Your answer lies here. Fire uses LCD vs E-ink. E-ink wins.

Edit: Might as well do your research before you accuse staring at a screen hurts your eyes. Staring at an LCD screen hurts your eyes more than LED will (LED makes it easier on your eyes).

Edit 2: Besides using an LED monitor (I noticed it right away) has a brighter screen vs LCD and has sharper contrast in blacks, whites, and blues.

Edit 3: Oh, versus buying an actual book, if they're out of stock, you can buy books right away on Kindle with no limit of how many they sell. smile

Edit 4: Also buying a kindle book in ereader format = for life no matter what. As I say: Your point is invalid.
you can buy used buy. reuse recycle and there is another but i don't remember it. i am not say you need to be a new expensive book.
