OP, I think you're a little confused about how to install. Once Ubuntu has booted, the vista install disk isn't going to do your job. The computer needs to boot to the vista disk, not to your hard drive. most computers will have a couple of ways of doing so. These options are accessible by pushing a button on boot (usually F2, F10, F12, or delete). When you see it say "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD" or something to that effect, do so. The disk will guide you from there.

Retried.

It's still just going into the GRUB thing even after saying boot from disk several times.
sad

Shouldn't the setup for Vista pop up right after or do I log into my desktop before it shows the screen?

Vista installation should pop up while you're booting your computer with the disk in the drive. Have you tried going into it from your desktop? Does it even recognize that there is a disk in the drive from your desktop?

No it doesnt recognize the disk from my desktop. That's what I was saying in my first post. sad

@phantom3:
I'm not confused- I've tried those ways a million times and the one time it actually said to press any key, I did, and it just started making this weird beep beep beep beep until I turned it off after a good 5 minutes of it not doing anything at all.

Ok, I found a place that shows how to dual boot with Ubuntu installed first.
That should allow me to get into the Vista disk and at least have it coupled with Ubuntu.

I also found another tutorial on how to rid yourself of the ubuntu partition with a dual boot.

Case closed.
thanks for the ideas, but, ultimately a fail. sad

Eeeeeee!
Sounds to me like your disk drive can't read DVDs.

You said it was able to, because you've used XP and Ubuntu, both XP and Ubuntu are on normal 702Mb CDs.

You sould've stuck with Ubuntu, retard. Windows is a bulky piece of s**t which is incompatible with every single other OS because it isn't POSIX-compliant.

You now owe me 10 gold.

You're like a little kid jumping into a pool of sharks if you're going to come in here and start bashing things while tossing around big words in an attempt to intimidate people into not questioning your posts.
