I need help on how to make a picture bigger in gimp.
A banner is simply an image.

So follow gimp tutorials.

I was wondering if anyone knows some good GIMP tutorials on making banners that i have seen around in the mini shop form.... Even if it is simple just to get the hang of the program.

Well.... like Rydian said, a banner is an image. It can be anything.
The stuff you see around Gaia are just Photoshopped.
If you want to know how to do all that, don't look up "Banner tutorials." Look up things like "GIMP tutorials," or anything that tells you how to use GIMP to alter images.

The best places to look are Google and deviantArt. (deviantArt recommended)

I have looked on deviantArt but I find nothing that would help....
And some of the tutorials there jump around a bit and do not really explain where to find that step.
Look for tutorials on the internet as a whole, not just one site which is not well-known for tutorials.

I looked around and I found a page that was made from the GIMP makers, but it was no good. And when I look on Google, I still have no luck, but i will keep trying and maybe just play around with GIMP.

You need to learn the basics of using a program before you make a banner.

You will need to put forth some effort.

Go to Image==>Canvas size to change the size of your image
Here is a screen shot.
this won't make your picture any better quality, nothing beats a good original, but you can scale the image (change its size) by going to the image window, clicking the "image" tab and then clicking on "scale image..."
