1. When you turn it on do you hear the BIOS beep? If there is no beep this may mean a component is toast in your comp. (depending on the make and model of your parts/computer.)

2. Try opening up the case, turn it on, and look to see what is causing the buzzing. If the buzzing is coming from the power supply's fan, and nothing else is lighting up, or no other fans or spinning, the motherboard/a component on the motherboard could be shot, or something beyond the power supply caused the failure.

hi im vhax
I know the problem.
It's called.
Windows Vista.

Nope, I've got Windows XP.

Yeah I had that once, it was a faulty plugin (like through the wall and everything). I'd say your power supply got fried. Best advice I can give is make sure you replace it with a similar or better one.

That's the box that the power cord plugs into right? If so, my uncle says he might have one I can have.

Uhmmm I'm not sure, I'll have to check on that later.
I looked through the holes in the side of the tower and there are lights [behind the fans] on. What I meant by "buzzing" was that it was like the computer was on like normal, but the green light on the front of the tower wasn't on.

sounds like your power supply or your motherboard died (power supply most likely) i would recommend finding a new one on ebay or buying a somewhat new computer at a garage sale and putting that power supply in your computer

Oh thank god.
I have a a couple of old computers sitting around that I can probably take the power supply out of if my uncle doesn't have one.

I was realllly worried that all my stuff would be lost and I'd lose all my pictures.

If not you could always pull out the harddrive and put it in a new computer ot take data off of it...

First I want to see if the power source is the problem.

Only if treated like s**t and not given proper maintenance. Computers need care and maintenance like every other thing in this world.

I'm a lady, and I work in IT. I've been using computers for over 20 years (ah DOS and WordPerfect and when function keys HAD a function) and I've been in the IT industry for over 10 years.

I think that just about makes me viable to give computer advice.

No, mine just froze up. Possibly because I was turning my space heater on and off every few minutes.

I need help guys. ]:

I was working on some art and suddenly my computer froze up, I hit Ctrl+alt+delete but nothing happened so I hit restart. Nothing happened so I held down the power button until it turned off.

I tried turning it back on and the actual computer is buzzing but there's no lights to show that it's on, there is also nothing showing on the screen.

It's currently turned off completely with the power cord unplugged.

HALP PLZ. :C

The bios needs reset, it's not your power supply or your ram. If the computer is buzzing that means the fans are still coming on but the hardware is locked up. Take it in to a computer place and have them reset your bios, and you'll be good to go. However all of your settings will go back to factory and you'll have to reset the clock and date/time.

I might be able to get my uncle to do that.... will it erase all my stuff?

No, all of your information will still be there. Resetting the bios will simply put all of your settings back to default values, but won't bother your files at all.
