Best promgramming language for a retard

I mean, someone new to programming. I'd like to develop some good skills, because I've got some ideas for educational games, and I'd like to be able to implement them myself.

(They'd be simple games with text and pictures, not necessarily awesome graphics, and I want to design them to be 2 player-parent or tutor and child)

Could I do something like that just with flash?

I learned on Java, myself. It's reasonably easy to use, once you get the hang of it. There are plenty of books and websites that could teach you, and you'd certainly be able to make simple games with it.

To be honest I preferred starting on Flash. You could draw the things you wanted with a mouse instead of trial and error with code.
Then again, this is my first year of Java and I'm only using Ready to Program, which is pretty much the easiest kind there is as far as I know.
Really it depends on your preference. Try fooling around a bit in both and see what's easier for you.

I would go with flash. Adobe is amazing and everything that moves on the internet is basically made from flash. If you learn it, it's valued in the techy world. You could work magic with websites, your own sig, vids, or even games.

Better programming skills might come more from a language like Java than Flash, but it could be a while 'till you're up to making complicated GUIs.
If you really just want to get something like this going for the web, Flash is probably a good bet :3

Flash would be easier for a beginner seeing as there are so many easy-to-use pre-made components available and timelines. Programming skills from Flash can easily be expanded into Flex for those desktop applications, and once you have mastered ActionScript 3, Java should be a walk in the park, especially with such similar syntax.

You could even get away with not using OOP and still build some great games in Flash.
