Genji, trust blaze. He knows what he's doing. If you do as he says, he won't hurt your computer, he'll help you with this problem. Him remote assisting you will let him get rid of whats causing the issue, since it seems your not fully sure on what to do, let him do it.

This is the problem with morons who are only semi-computer literate. What you have there is a spyware, I don't need a link to tell me that. What the geniuses of this forum don't realize is that it doesn't always go as planned. The point of spyware is to use your computer and browse for personal information. Spyware can be a pain to get rid of, if it's attached it's self to explorer.exe and it keeps crashing, odds are you're going to have to back up your computer, format and reinstall windows. Great time to upgrade to windows 7, it just came out october 22nd.

Just because there are removal instructions to stop the processes from running, the files are still damaged. Damaged in a way that you can not repair. Odds are even if you follow the step-by-step, the application stored in ram will end up redownloading the spyware and it'll just continue infecting you.

If you want to have any chance of stopping it, this is what you should try

Google ccleaner, download, install.

restart into safe mode, (tap F8 on startup, you'll be prompted) DO NOT DO SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING, if your explorer.exe IS infected, then it'll just load it's self in ram once again. While you're in safe mode, you'll notice things are running great. This is because hardly any drivers are loaded, just what is needed... Also it's using fresh files, it's like a separate operating system, but using the same kernel.

Once you are in safe mode, run ccleaner, clear your startup and clean up your registry... clear all your temp files. Restart your computer and prey.

If explorer.exe keeps crashing, you'll probably need to format your computer and reinstall windows. Odds are you'll need to because frankly, the damage is done to explorer already. The spyware has attached it's self to the executable, this is why it keeps crashing, it can't do proper API calls.

Also, if you have any questions feel free to PM me, I am actually certified to work on this stuff. If you need scans of my certificates, I'll be glad to show.

Oh, You are ACTUALLY QUALIFIED.

So explain then why you insist that the person do unnecessary, steps, and things that won't actually fix the problem?

And explain then why you just proved you have no idea what safe mode does?

Using big words, and mentioning qualifications doesn't impress, because it takes a semi LITERATE moron to get certs from most major groups.

Seriously, PROVE YOURSELF before you start saying you have certification, because WE DON'T GIVE A s**t, especially when your advice is potentially dangerous, and useless.

Especially since you don't seem to understand what is covered in the sticky, and you CLEARLY haven't read the rules or this thread.

this bit in particular made me laugh, and laugh hard. Nothing actually RUNS from RAM, and things are only there briefly if they are.

Also, what do you think the REPAIR option on an OS install CD does.

Oh, wait. It REPAIRS damaged system files. Like explorer. A DERP!

@OP: Trust blaze, and do what he asks you. He knows his stuff, and will get it working again biggrin

You guys are making me blush >///<

@op: we got disconnected, so...yeah. When you're back, restart the computer while tapping f8
run safe mode with networking
download/run this: http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Evaluation/Rescue-CD/VIPRERescue5489.exe

you may need to download it on another computer. make sure you run it using the BAT file included.

WORKS BEST IN DIRECTORY SERVICES MODE OR SAFE MODE/COMMAND PROMPT

Nothing runs from ram? Ram is temporary storage where applications are stored before they are run. That's why when you declare a variable it's stored where? In ram, for when it's pulled out to run. Ram is temporary storage, in which a virus can be stored in ram and run at any time even if it's been deleted. So laugh away, you're the one who doesn't know how a computer works.

Repair CD doesn't repair anything, it replaces core files... CORE files, as in sure, it'll replace explorer.exe... but if the spyware/trojan/virus is still in startup or attached to software in startup you'll just be reinfected.

I'm not doubting anyone doesn't know their stuff... but I bet I am more experienced than half of the children on this website. I didn't go to college just to go in debt.

You know what? I'm highly tempted to tell the OP to format the machine since that will get rid of it, but I won't for many reasons

1. It's not allowed.
2. It's like using a sledgehammer to open a walnut.
3. He probably wouldn't be able to follow the instructions.

Seriously, the sticky has helped more then a million people who were able to follow it. Some of those had learning difficulties.

I'm a lady, and I work in IT. I've been using computers for over 20 years (ah DOS and WordPerfect and when function keys HAD a function) and I've been in the IT industry for over 10 years.

I think that just about makes me viable to give computer advice.

I love how you keep claiming you're so experienced while continually proving your inability to understand fundamental concepts of computing.

I'd say most (if not all) of the regulars here are more knowledgeable than you. Secondly, you're really not that old. As in, at all. Again, compared to the regulars here. Stop pretending that irrelevant and unrelated tidbits of information such as your age or post secondary education somehow bolster your argument. You can claim you know Bill Gates or Steve Wosniak for all we care, it won't make you right.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: I don't like making fun of people with mental handicap, so I won't. You may want to look into gaining disability payments and hiring a helper to make these kind of decisions for you.
