akamai netsession interface

On the side bar of Network and Internet, there's this Akamai netsession interface control panel (32bit). When I click on it I get an error:

I don't remember installing this program.I also found its location and it was installed today 2/25/10.
Do I need it? When I try to uninstall nothing happens; it does ask if I want it to be remove, but after that, it doesn't get uninstalled.

Go to the infection removal sticky, go down to the "removal" post, and follow step 3, the hijackthis log part.

Thanks. I'll do that when I finish scanning. I don't think it's harmful, but I want it remove or be fix if it's part of the computer functioning properly. I'm using Windows 7...Do you have it too?
