Many years ago, a couple of guys created history. A small time black and white comic book that parodied superheroes and martial arts movies in some of the oddest ways. As a certain boy was splashed in the eyes with a vat of chemicals (a not-so-subtle reference to Daredevil), a young boy was dropping a bowl full of baby turtles . . . which happened to quickly find themselves immersed in the same glowing goop. Rescued by the pet rat of the late Hamato Yoshi, these turtles and this rat would grow well beyond the limits of their species' capacities. Trained from the moment of this encounter in the arts of the shinobi, the turtles, each named after Renaiossance artiosts from a bookthat the rat fioshed from the sewers they lived in, The Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles were born.
Soon, they would inspire a television series (which in itself would spawn an entirely DIFFERENT comic book series under the Archie imprint), toys, movies and merchandising of all capacity.
In recent days, the Turtles have been returned to their roots at Mirage (completely striking from memory a brief run at Image) with the ongoing titles of TMNT and Tales of the TMNT . . . as well as a mini-series based on a blinded Leonardo (which is handled in quite a unique manner. Most of the art is in sihloette.).
So . . . who's enjoyed the series in it's past incarnations? Who's reading the current version? Where would you like the comics to go in the future?
