My favorite characters are:
* Batman, because I love the antihero and questionability of the character.
* Wonder Woman, because I'm a history nut and I think she's interesting and it's nice to see a girl up there with the tops.
* Rogue, because she's a pityable character.
* Gambit, amusing.
* Flash (Wally West), how can you not like him?
* Martian Manhunter, he's just epic.
I think Wonder Woman and Batman are the most attractive, although for me Lex is up there as well. I love the intelligence, confidence and strength they all have.
Pairings, I'm a Batman and Wondy shipper (oh I know, horrors). I just could never get behind Supe and her. I think the friendship is too good to ruin on a chance romance. Also Gambit and Rogue and recently started seeing the good in a Wolverine/Storm thing. Most of these are more borne out of cartoons than comics.
As far as weapons and powers, I'd want to be able to fly and obviously Batman has some pretty awesome toys. It would be nice to be intelligent enough to be able to create all of that from scratch.
Favorite comic so far, most of Grek Rucka's run on Wonder Woman. #100 made me cry, as did #172.
Least favorite, pretty much all of Byrne's run and (I hate to say it) but a lot of the current run with Simone. I hate the Diana Prince alter ego, it's ridiculous. And it feels like a lot has slipped back into the sort of goofy comedic schtick which is a sad departure from the seriousness of Rucka's run, which had Diana out on life and limb and questioning her Gods and nearly being run into the ground, having triumphs and failures. Now we get WW#10 with the whole 'Amazons Attack' thing, Diana flying around flirting with Nemesis through most of them until WW#24 where she thwarts a badly made biopic. A lot of it is amusing as heck, sure, but still...it's turned her back into a comedic character that I don't feel like she was really meant to be.
Better as a comic, whichever run Justice League New Frontier was made off of. I can't believe it was so highly praised. I've tried to watch it four or five times now and it's so ungodly boring and the animation feels like something you'd get back in the 90s done free hand, except it isn't the 90s anymore!!!
