Welcome to Gaia! ::

My all time favorite comic. It is a genre blending comic that is equal parts ******** up and extremely well written. This comic changed my views from comics being fun to read (but nothing serious) to works of art. Thoughts?
I approve this thread.
Preacher is pretty good, but I kind of lost interest as the series went on. Garth Ennis is okay, but often it feels like he is writing the same story over and over again. I can't stand his latest series like "The Boys," or "Crossed." There's no substance, just a lot of shock value. If you like Preacher, I'd check out something like Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis, or just about anything by Robert Kirkman.

I havent read The Boys, but I like Crossed. I think it has more depth then people give it honestly. Though I will admit there is quite a shock factor. I love it as a piece of horror. I have never had a COMIC BOOK make me scared to turn the page. As fare as horror goes, it does its job.

I like Kirkman, I just think hes a bit overrated. I like The Walking Dead, and Haunt is pretty nifty so fare. Destroyer sucked nuts. Invisible failed to hook me (then again, I'm only 2 trades in...)

If you want some good Ennis that is not super long and hard to fallow I would just out ether Just a Pilgrim or Streets of Glory. Both are one trade long and not super over the top.

Now it's funny you mention that you like The Walking Dead, and Crossed. Cause when I read Crossed, all I see is Ennis thinking to himself, "This Walking Dead stuff is amazing. But you know what would make it better. If the zombies were rapist psychopaths, and one uses a horse p***s as a weapon." And that is why I can't get into his stuff that often. He just kind of does stuff, just to get a reaction, wether or not it important to the story. I'm no prude, and I understand his appeal. I use to love picking up his run on Punisher MAX. But as I got older, I just found it to be pointless, and often immature (Though I do still like some of his Punisher Max stuff.)
It's been along time since I've read a Preacher comic. They were allways great fun.

I can see ware your coming from. A lot of his stuff (mostly on avatar) is really over the top with its shock. Crossed is an example. Its super extreme and its not something I suggest to people unless there REALLY in to horror type stuff (Though I will still defend the fact that it still has substance, I also really love the characters.) . I suggest walking dead to everybody. For a while it was the only comic my girl friend read. It just has that type of appeal. Stuff like 303 and Dicks is just stupid over the top (the end of 303 was just....gah)
I was considering reading this...
Could you please tell me what it's about and stuff?
Thanks (:
