Defenders #3
xxxxxx I have really been enjoying this series. It's fun, has a nice pace, and a good combination of action and humor. It has the sort of style and feel of older Marvel comics, which I like. I've always been a fan of the Defenders and this new team has a very good line-up. Doc Strange, Namor, Silver Surfer, Iron Fist, and Red She-Hulk. Never knew Red She-Hulk before, but this series has really gotten me into her. This issue was mostly just a wrap up to the starting story arc, but it was still pretty good and I'm eager to continue this run. I think my favorite part is just the interactions between our five team-members. They work really well together. Loving this series.
Red Lantern #5
xxxxxx - I really don't know about this series. I originally picked it up because I like one of the Lanterns, Bleez (the woman with the skeleton wings), but it's just not held my attention. It's story is very slow. I mean, snail-walking, soul-crushingly slow. It's been 5 issues and we are still just wandering around the Red Lantern planet fighting over who should be the leader. I’ll probably end up dropping this. It’s really jus a lot of violence, over-reactions, in-fighting, and, to my surprise, whining. If they aren’t whining about being angry, they’re whining about being intelligent, or how they died, or about how they aren’t doing anything. Argh. Yeah, if this series doesn’t pick up soon, I’ll drop it. It has an interesting premise, with the Red Lanterns re-thinking why their Corp exists and if what they’re doing is actually a mission of justice or revenge. That’s pretty cool. But it’s potential is bogged down in a lot of wasted time and a slow plot.
