do comic writers go insane in their old age?

Frank Miller seems to have lost it and "doesn't owe his fans anything"
and now Peter David is following suit, which saddens me.

No. Because unlike Frank Miller, PAD can still write. X-Factor is a damn good comic.

Do actual THINGS happen now other then Jamie being unspeakably emo? Does the art no longer look like a** and a half? Are other characters there for things other then for Jamie to be an a** to?

Is it true that a dupe got Strong Guy pregnant? xp

Oh man! There was this TOTALLY BADASS scene where omg HIS BABY DIED. Isn't that so brilliant and creative of PAD? . No, wait, I think I'm lying.

Did anyone here read the recent Omega the Unknown series? It's next on my to buy list (hard for me to resist anything that has a section drawn by Gary Panter) and I hadn't seen much discussion here of the book. I'm curious if anyone here got a chance to read it.

I've neither read it nor seen anyone talk about it here...but I am curious about it, having heard great things.

I think what's stopped me investigating it is that Steve Gerber was so pissed off about it. Which is silly thing for me to care about as a reader, I know, but I think that might be what's stayed my hand from reaching for it in the comic shop so far.

PAD's always seemed like a bit of an arrogant p***k. His blog posts, his arguments, anything I've seen from him on CBR... Hell, I even met him at a Con a while back, and definitely got that vibe. He was sitting, reading a book. He signed a few issues, but barely looked at me and didn't say a word. Returned to his book as though the fans were nothing more than a distraction. As for his writing... Well, he's not bad. He certainly has a decent resume. But he's not some kind of virtuoso. A bit overrated, if you ask me.

..The odd thing is, some of his best work appears to be some kind of Dream. I'm thinking mainly of Rahne's World and the Paperwork Monster. The latter of which made me like Valerie. xd

His "But I digress" stuff did have a certain arrogance to it, but it was still pretty damn amusing. Won't say he is a genius, but if it weren't for him... I wouldn't have liked Quicksilver as a character. (Well up until I stopped having any clue what they're going to do with him.)

His stuff from "Young Justice" I've read and enjoyed all right. His "Supergirl" missed the mark for me. Gave X-Factor a try, but dropped it after about 25 issues or so because it felt like nothing was changing, no one was progressing, and nothing was happening.

Dropped his She-Hulk for entirely petty reasons; I hated her personality regression, skrull sidekick and him bringing up the Juggernaut thing again in an attempt to be funny. Don't feel bad at all that the series wound up canceled.

speaking of She-Hulk, anyone get a gander at the Ultimate She-Hulk? thoughts, opinions?.

( Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk #3 in case anyone is curious).

PAD seems to have discovered a gift for the uneventful. I also dropped She-Hulk shortly after Slott left, I liked the bounty hunter plot when it started but the whole thing turned sour very quickly. The Secret Invasion tie-ins mixed with X-Factor didn't help neither.

But probably the biggest love lost came with Fallen Angel. Somewhere half the way the IDW run the title turned dull, dull, as dull as things can be. Unbelievable dull. I actually felt relieved when they announced the title was coming to an end, because yes, I still stuck for the whole run, that's how much I liked his Supergirl.

And I remember liking Fallen Angel when it started on DC too. And I don't think the uninspiring painted art is all to blame. So I strongly believe, that somewhere along the way, PAD just lost the touch.

She had one panel, so I really don't have an opinion. But in case anyone else wants to take a gander...
