Kitkati~ Hello! biggrin

And yeah, I didn't know what to ask for and I'd had a few people ask me already on dA and so I was like "...DRAW ME LAMONT |D "
And Mont's my favorite so it wasn't tooo hard to figure out xD

I'd have just said "Hanna related" if I didn't know though |D

So, random question that's probably already been discussed, when did you all get into Hanna?
I was browsing TV Tropes after recently getting in to the whole...uh...thing of webcomics, I clicked a link to the page for Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name, saw the page image and went "holy hell that is some attractive art right there" and went to the comic.

Read it all in one night. Then, uh, again the next day. whee

Ehehe. One of my friends on dA, that I've yet to figure out OTL, talked about it in her journal and I was like "..Hmmm, why not?" and read it...all in one day. And I've been an avid fan since |D

Do you cosplay anyone?
No, I don't really attend conventions and none of my friends read HINABN so it's not like I could rock up to a costume party in Hanna-gear. Well, I could, but no-one would recognise me. >:T
Also, I couldn't convincingly look like any of the characters. (THEY ARE ALL TOO BEAUTIFUL emo )

But I know you've seen Donda's (fantastic) cosplay and Jalee has a Hanna costume in the works, I believe. o3o

What about you?

How did I get into this crazy stuff? xD

I think I had seen it mentioned once or twice on cosplay.com, then also saw it on TV Tropes. Then I was really bored, so I was like, "Durrrrrr why not," and read it all withing 24 hours, and purchased a Hanna base wig in that time frame. That was... exactly a month ago on the second. Yup. xD

Thanks Donda! C:

Love your avi ;u;

And I giggled when I saw his care was a sedan |D

AND OF COURSE IX WAS THE ONE WITH THE BUNNY SLIPPERS XD;

fadskjldfj I'msuchanerd.Iadmireallyouguyssomuch ;u; -shot-

Haha, thanks!
OhjeezeyouknowNaranda. :O I probably shouldn't be surprised since he's kinda... famous on the internet? Or something. XD
Yeah, I had no idea he had those slippers, or why they ended up at the party, but I guess it was fitting, so maybe that's why.

I started reading HiNaBN because of Naranda, actually. He posted it on facebook and said something along the lines of "if you haven't read this comic, you need to. Right now." So I did. I don't normally get involved in the fan communities of comics I like, though. That was because Tryster invited me to join their cosplay group for A-Kon, and then I kinda just dove headfirst into the fandom. XD
And it has been eating my life ever since. True story.
Awww,Lamont's car is full of boxes!

I knew about Hanna for some time since I saw some pictures and threads, but never bothered to check it out simply because I knew I would like it and I hat to study.
Then I was bored and went to TVTropes and ...yeah...read it all in two days

Kitkati~ Ehehe. I'm a derpy little Hanna. I've got a few pics on my FB and maybe...two on my dA? XDDD

Jalee: I like that idea |D I need a wig... My color is fading ;n;

Donda: WellItalktohimonFBtoosoo |D I jumped into the fandom without thinking about it. No one else I knew [at least at the time] Knew about it. I was kinda worried about it at first and I posted like..I think a Conrad line as my status and about ten people were like "OMGYOULYKEHANNA?!?!" xDDD

Artemis: A lot of people found it on TVtropes O: That's really surprising, at least to me xD
That is kinda amazing how many people here got to Hanna through TVtropes.
For me it was actually someone in anouther guild right here on Gaia. She recomended it with a link, and the rest is history.

Could someone please explain the attraction here? I read a few pages when it first started, liked the art, and left. I read the rest of the archives today, and I just don't get it. The setting is almost non-existent, and the characters are undeveloped and vague.

So what's the draw? Why does everyone cream their jeans over this?

Why, hello there, 404~

Well, actually I'm technically new to the fandom, it's been about two months or so since I began reading it.

As for the how I got into it, well...

It's funny, seeing how many hanna-fans get to know Ludo because of Tessa's love for the band but I found the comic thanks to them~

On, the cosplay part, I'd LOOOOOOVE to do it (I'm one hell of a sucker for cosplay), but, sadly, I've got a few reasons why I can't, one of them being me being me--

And...
I don't know Hank, maybe we're just a bit over enthusiastic. I myself am not quite sure what is it that keeps me so excited and eager about it. It just does.
NotYourHero: I think it's so cool that Tessa and Ludo have been trading fans. I mean, as you said she's been creating Ludo fans all over the place, but the fact that they know her well enough to actually link her comic on their facebook is pretty awesome.

Hank: That's actually a really interesting question. Everyone I know who has ever read the comic seems to instantly fall in love with it, at least to some degree. You're the first person I've encountered who doesn't really like it.
And you know, I can't really put my finger on why we all find it so awesome. Maybe it's the art style, maybe it's its initial carefree nature, maybe its the composition and narration style of the comics... For me, I think it's the characters. There's just something about each one that's quirky and lovable, and I just get caught up in their plights and adventures.
If I may ask, what about the characters makes you feel they are underdeveloped? I mean, there are a number of things we don't know about a lot of them (namely Hanna and Zombie) but that's part of the intentional mystery of the comic. Now that I think about it, though, there's actually a lot to many of the characters that's not actually in the comic; you can only find out about it by seeing some of the extra stuff Tessa posts on Devart or by reading the Q&As. Maybe the fact that some of those details are left behind the scenes and not presented in the comic is a shortcoming of the comic?
Part of the allure for many is also the fan community itself. I mean, I liked the comic a lot when I first started reading it, but I didn't really reach this level of fandom until I got pulled into the fan community. They're really just an awesome bunch of people, and sharing art and talking amongst ourselves about HiNaBN really just serves to strengthen our love for the comic.

Donda

Mostly it's because they can all be boiled down to a three-word phrase, and not lose anything in the process. And the fact that they all go from 'just met' to 'bestest pals' in no time flat is a little ridiculous.
Donda
Maybe the fact that some of those details are left behind the scenes and not presented in the comic is a shortcoming of the comic?

I'd call that a flaw. It seems a bit lazy, to have all this actual characterization and not even put it in the comic.
Donda

I don't really do fandom, so I haven't really done any community stuff. From what I have seen, though, it seems to be almost entirely porn.

That's what it came off to me as, really. An excuse to make lots of pretty boy stereotypes have sex, without having to admit that's what you wanted to do.

If we're honest, the comic isn't even long enough to judge it that thoroughly. I mean, it is barely two and a half chapters long, we just feel it longer because we have to put up with Tessa's updating rhythm.

Anyway. I personaly find all those little extras and the fact that that info isn't necesarily specified in the comic itself very amusing. It is, at least for me, a proof of how much though Tessa puts into her characters, and the fact that we've only had gotten to know that information from resources other than the comic itself shows that there's a lot that we have yet to see.
If we haven't seen that information in the practice it's because it isn't important in the moment and therefore it doesn't really matter, but It's more like something done for the fandom to know more and feel closer to the characters they love than something done for the sake of the story.

And, yes, it is true that there's quite a big quantity of fanwork that's made in an erotic context, but, in all honesty, you can't take a story with a cast consisting of mostly males, and put a lot of young women (because many, if not most of the people doing this kind of fanwork are females) to read it an expect them not to go all hormonal about it. I have to admit that even I find a certain enjoyment in a few certain pairings. But as there are fanworks of this kind there are lots more that aren't even in the slightlest bit shipy.
However, I think what Donda ment when talking about the fandom was that the people involved themselves are really friendly, unlike with some other fan comunities.

Anyhow. I apologize for any misspellings or mistakes. English isn't my first language and my Office Trial ran out so I can't do my rutinary spell check.
