There's got to be some significance behind that...but I really hope we don't find out it's a "Darkseid behind everything" situation, that would feel a little cheap.
Possibly, but remember, Darksied probably feels that he would be able to take over Earth a lot easier if he had to fight Lex rather than if he had to fight Superman. Plus, Darksied is a major interstellar threat, which would give a nod towards the Rann-Thanagar War.

However, we also don't know if Darksied is even viable at this point, because of what Superman did to him. The Darkseid he made the deal with was in the alternate dimension.

(For reference, Superman nailed Darkseid to the edge of Reality at the end of the Supergirl arc.)
I just think he's becoming DC's 'All-purpose cosmic threat' and it'd be anti-climactic to see him behind all this.

If he was revealed as the driving force nobody would go, "Holy ********! Darkseid!", they'd all go, "Oh. Okay. Darkseid."

Not saying it's not him...just that I'll be a little downbeat if it is.

Anybody think of any other cosmic-level baddies that could be in the frame?

She's a stropy mare lately this Wonder Woman.
And from the most recent solicts it looks like her habit of stomping and attacking her comrades isn't stopping anytime soon.

You know I actually like that, the idea of Diana not toeing the JLA line which is whyI've said elsewhere that I'm glad that Diana is going to train the nouveau Supergirl (but annoyed that Jeph Loeb is writing it). The irony to me of Diana attacking the Fortress is that Superman took a page out of her book by sweeping in and taking out Nox. I could be wrong but since Rucka has gotten on WW, she's been the contraversial one, the one that will do whatever she has to do and if it means pissing off Batman, so much the better. I would like some reservists/former members to come in and ask just what the hell the JLA is doing, bring in Steel, Zatanna, Plastic Man, maybe Booster Gold now that Beetle bit it and have them take the big seven to task over it. Now that would be my idea of a good mega crossover. It would also naturally require the intervention of one John Constantine which is against the rules. crying

BTW...here's an interesting article on the whole thing from Joe Casey and Matt Fraction....
http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=17

It's a piece of writing helped by them being intelligent, astute and insightful...and hindered by them not actually knowing what they're talking about. smile

I'll take Casey to task about saying that there isn't really a place for a fan that only knows about one Blue Beetle, implying that DC is too continuity heavy for casual or new fans. When it comes to non Vertigo fare, the first DC comics I bought were the Sensei and Student arc of Birds of Prey. I didn't feel clobbered over the head. Hell I jumped into Azzarello's Superman with just a pedestrian knowledge of the Man of Steel and I'm still doing fine. When I don't do fine is these massive crossovers that need you to be a ******** expert to be able to even make an educated guess. Like Identity Crisis. Captain Boomerang? What the ********?

I only knew about one Blue Beetle but that's Ted Kord and I was very sad to see him go because Chuck Dixon did a great job with the character in his Birds of Prey appearances. In fact I want Dixon back on BoP because Gail Simone is starting to shape up as a bit of a hypocrite but that's a story for a different time.

I was looking at the Crisis counselling thing over at DC and I saw Shadow Thief was involved in Identity Crisis. I haven't picked it up yet (I'll wait for the inevitable trade) but he could be involved in Rann/ Thanagar. His costume is based on Thanagarian technology and he has a few links to Hawkman (Katar Hol), so the possibility's there. And he also has links to Byth (who supplied his outfit) the Thanagarian villain who made an appearance in Hawkman a little while back (though that story arc is probably unrelated). Prior to this Rann/ Thanagar war, Hawkwoman's last appearance in a comic book was also that storyarc featuring Byth in Hawkman (when he impersonated Katar Hol using his shape-changing abilities). So there's two villains with Thanagarian connections, one who has a connection to Identity Crisis and both who have connections to one another.

They're not exactly cosmic level but it's just an idea

Lex Luthor Man of Steel...

Wasn't there an earth where the only superhero was Luthor, I mean before the Crisis?

If so doesn't it seem kind of like they're prepping, and giving a show and tell of the past and the future?

Pre-Crisis, it was Earth 3, their Luthor sported a goatee; and wore a hi-tech suit.

Post-Crisis, it is Earth 2; their Luthor is an exact physical duplicate of the one in Earth 1, except for him being a "reflection" of the other. According to Syndicate Rules, he`s in prison awaiting for a show trial (and probably execution). He wore an armor similar to the apokoliptian armor Lex used in Spuerman/Batman.

BTW, Earth 2 and Qward occupy the same relative places in the Antimatter universe than Earth 1 and Oa occupy in the Positive Matter Universe
this may have already been mentioned, but :

Does anyone else think its odd that they've brought Supergirl back just in time for this NEW Crisis?

Are you talking about in Superman/Batman? I didnt know Loeb's crapfest was in canon.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, it cant. Not with Diana being blind, and Superman being weakened by liquid K injection.
Diana is blind in continuity right now, you son of a b***h. heart

I know, Rucka struck her blind. Was she blind in S/B? Did Clark have grey hair?

And whats up with Degaton, Huntress, Powergirl, 1985, and JSA #72?

Oh I see what you mean now, you were saying it in reverse. Wasn't it some alternate future Wonder Woman and not the current continuity one? As for Power Girl they're suppposedly telling us what the hell she really is. Supposedly.

You may be right on that one, Im not sure. Heck, as of S/B #18, Im not sure Loeb knows either. How do Superman and Batman remember what went on?

The panel hinting at "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" Was that Post-Crisis Superman that wouldve existed if Superman and Batman remained rulers, or is it Kingdom Come Superman, who now ceases to exist because everything's returning to pre-Crisis, or is it a combination of the two?

The panel of Clark holding a dead Pre-Crisis Supergirl. Are they admitting that the Pre-Crisis timeline is indeed accessible?

Anyway, I read some stuff on another board about JSA #72, and apparently Degaton is hinting that Huntress is not supposed to be here, and that he mucked around with Power Girl's origin circa 1985. I need to read it for myself.
Well Huntress' origin was completely rewritten post crisis but I guess anything is up for grabs these days.

You know, this is going to sound really dumb, but I am genuinely afraid that they are about to retcon the entire Post-Crisis universe out of existence.
That doesn't sound dumb. It sounds exactly like what they're doing.

Except this time around, the multiverse will have a lot more rape in it.
