Soooo, Batman The Court of Owls is getting pretty awesome.

Yep! I think I might actually stick around through the $4 price hike and upcoming cross over because I'm digging it so much. Want to pick up the HC of Snyder's work from last year at some point too.

I wonder if the writers were thinking of Owlman when they worked on that particular story.
The crime syndicate one.
From Earth Three.
Both Owlman and the Court stand has Batman's reversal.

Well, I've benn reading it with that assumption. It works well, too.

John Rozum's posted a lengthy clarification and explanation regarding his feelings on Static Shock and the recent comments that surfaced regarding it's cancellation.

Why I Quit Static Shock

It's... pretty long and hard to just pick out some highlights but definitely worth reading if you're a Rozum fan or a fan of Static or Milestone in general.
McDaniel tries to clean it up, but Rozum's account and his correlate pretty well.

Unfortunately, In Scott's attempt to "set the record straight" he does not come off well. It's mostly painful to read.

Those were just snippits?! Jesus. Those "snippits" are about as long as Rozum's entire explanation! And yeah, I'm probably biased towards Rozum but McDaniel doesn't come off well there at all. I hearby dub him.. Scott McDouchey-douche!

Also, it's probably worth noting that his and the editors approach failed miserably. And yeah, Xombi didn't do much better sales wise but it was a far more enjoyable read but clearly that's a taste thing.

Those were just snippits?!

Here's the piece in its entirety. If you have...45 minutes? An hour maybe? It's long. It's painful to read in many places. It's also over 15,000 words.
Scott McDaniel
I honestly believe STATIC SHOCK was cancelled simply because there was not enough fan support. Period

That's not an indictment on anyone - editor, creator or fan. STATIC has many passionate and loyal fans. The sad truth is that there just aren't enough of them to keep this book going.

John would have you believe that editorial interference played a part in STATIC failing. If only the STATIC SHOCK writer was allowed the unencumbered freedom to do his creative work, like the talents on ANIMAL MAN, STATIC would be SOARING.

Scott McDaniel
STATIC SHOCK WAS CANCELLED SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH FAN SUPPORT. Period.

I honestly believe that to be true.

I did EVERYTHING in my ability to fight this conclusion.

For what it's worth, I created the best characters/motivations I could, I created the best dramatic conflict I could, and I wrote the very best story I could. I created the very best art I could, as well.
Emphasis mine.

Scott McDaniel
I did EVERYTHING in my power to make this book a succees.
Well, he did everything in his power to do everything on the book, certainly.

Scott McDaniel
Can John say the same?
His complaint was Scott did his job for him. None of what Scott has said contradicts this.

Plus, WOW that is a long rant.

I laughed quite a bit at this, but it was one of those hollow, "what an a*****e" laughs. From both accounts, it sounds like Rozum went through a writer's nightmare.

And holy hell, 15,000 words?! That's like 50 pages! (Double-spaced. >.> )

I love the fact that nothing he says seems to contradict Rozum's statement, if anything it backs it and confirms it... and this is his defense! rofl

It really is a beautiful irony, isn't it? emotion_awesome

And he's getting trashed so hard in the comments. If he ever reads those, it would be interesting to know his reaction. "I don't understand! I write a novella-sized essay on how much of a d**k Rozum is and how it was all his fault, and they're still siding with him! It just doesn't make any sense."

Really? I might have to check that out too.

The only thing is, I thought Jonah Hex took place in the wild west...and I'm pretty sure Gotham is on the Jersey Shore.
